2011 Mazda 3 s Sport HIDs

Hi All,
I'm new to the forums, I just bought a new Mazda 3 s Sport last week. I absolutely love the car. Anyway, I'm looking to put HIDs into it, but would like to make it look as stock as possible (not be a police magnet, etc...) I'm wondering if anyone knows what color is used in the OEM HIDs that Mazda adds with the Technology Package? My best guess from test driving driving one, it looks to be either 6000k or 8000k?

Thanks!

Re: 2011 Mazda 3 s Sport HIDs

they are probably 4000k-4500k

you should try a 5000k hid kit, it's white, if you want something with a hint of blue (bit more appealing on the eyes) go with 6000k

i went 6k but im going down to 5000k;

colors allowed in the front are amber/white, rear is white reverse/red brake/amber turn

you could prob try getting a bright halogen replacement (xenon gassed) bulb instead of getting a hid kit

low beam bulb number is H11 for sedans, not sure if its different for hatchback

websites to try:

ddmtuning.com - overseas/florida?
autolumination.com - usa
ijdmtoy.com - usa/california

I run DDM 5000k and love it. pure white is 4300k, but the 5000k's blue-ness doesn't stick out too much, just keep them aimed correctly. The cars that stick out are cars with HIDs in non projector housings. with projectors, you can pull it off not an issue.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Am I correct in assuming that this is the projector housing: (lit portion of the headlight, it appears as if my Mazda has one as well even though it's not HID)? From what I've been reading on the forums, as long as I'm somewhat gentle with installing the HIDs I won't have to reaim them, what would be a couple of indicators of it being necessary to reaim?

Re: 2011 Mazda 3 s Sport HIDs

that picture is from a tech package mazda that has the mazda hid's installed, or might be the GT version which includes it standard

i havnt felt the need to re-aim my beams - have an '11 s sport with halogen headlamps; put an hid kit in there and its a huge difference

I got my Mazada3 Hatchback about 2 weeks ago now and installed the 5K HID kit. Looks awesome. Yes that is the projector housing. I'm looking to do the fog lamps now, but don't know where I should mount the balists. Any idea?

What kind of hid kits are you guys using? I have a set of ddm 35w but one ballast failed. Thinking of also doing hid fogs but not sure if i'd get ddm again.

i use ddm 35w, although i've only had it on for a few weeks, and i dont do alot of driving

you could try xenonexpert.com and get ultrafyre hid kit or whatever it's called

Re: 2011 Mazda 3 s Sport HIDs

I have had the DDM slim kit on my car for 1 day less than I have owned my car. ~10 months. not a single issue EVER. just don't be a dumbass and

a) touch bulbs
b) flash highbeams at people when your headlights are OFF (as they also turn on)
c) turn HIDs on, THEN crank the car (start, then turn on headlights)
d) mount your ballasts where they bounce around and hit things.
