Upgraded trunk lighting, will write a DIY if requested.

Hey guys, a couple of days ago I made a custom fit lighting solution to replace the dim 2010+ trunks. I will write a DIY if there is enough interest.

What you will need:
LED strip: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...%2Fnfls-ss.htm
I used a 1/2 m sample of cool white. I originally did it to make new vanity mirror bulbs for my G35, but that only used 6 leds total. I used the rest in the trunk. My trunk has[glow=red,2,300] 45 LEDS[/glow]!

74 bulb: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...%2F74-xHP.html
I wanted something easily removeable, so I used a 74 bulb template so I could use the original connector.

Soldering ability
A couple feet of wire (At least 32 Guage, dont use any smaller.)

Anyways here is a few pics (Taken with the same camera, same settings, same lighting:

BEFORE:

Yes, this is the trunk when empty, and no, it doesnt look like there is enough light to be visible to my camera at all.

AFTER:

Here is a couple pictures of the lights:

Also, I thought Id show off my new HIDs from ijdmtoy

DAng, very bright! I would like a How-To.

But from the pics, i cant tell good enough, but looks like you need to hide/tuck the wires somewhere else. Looks like they maybe visible if someone just looks underneath.

2.3L Turbo, 20% All around, Tinted tail-lights, Angel eyes, heon endurance fog lights, Step colder plugs (ITV22), TWM Shifter bushings, Cobb SF intake, Cobb turbo inlet, Forge Recirc Bpv, Rally armor mud flaps, Corksport dp, BC coilovers, SPC chamber arms, cp-e motor mount, cp-e fuel pump, cobb ap-Stage 2 (New rims-fmic and TUNE soon!)

I have secured the wires with electrical tape since the picture was taken so they run a little neater and dont droop down, but I think you would have to physically get in the trunk to see them.

This is slick. Do like! Will you go buy a hatch and wire this up and do a write-up for that???

What kind of lighting is in your hatch? If it is a mini-194 it should be the same basic idea - just a lot harder to conceal and place. I imagine you would want to run the wires through any panels available (never seen the inside of a hatch). Also, I used 5 strips. If you had a hatch I would recommend 6. 3 lined up on each side, you would need a bit more lighting, your light has to travel further.

to the OP:

Do you have the LED lighting interior kit from iJdmtoy.com and what HIDs are those from ijdmtoy.com?

The interior bulbs on my Mazda came from ijdmtoy. But I have interior bulbs from superbrightleds.com in my G and they both seem to be about the same quality. The HID kit I have is http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Slim-Digita...ersion_kit.htm

Select "H11" and whatever colour you want. I chose 6000K

Not sure of bulb size. Someone else already wrote up about intalling in the side panels. There just aren't any other great places to mount because of the hatch cover just being a molded board/panel (not flat on the bottom).
