LED Turn signal in headlights + HIDS?

Hi, I am looking into the Raptor HID Kit for my H11 lowbeams, but I also wanted to get these LED 7443s for my signal: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Switchback-...7443_sku38.htm

Is there any risk in running hese together? I am afraid of the heat breaking the LEDs.

Also, is there room for 2" in the signal bulb slot? It looks like its going to be tight (Stock bulb is ~ 1 5/8"

Thanks!

Re: LED Turn signal in headlights + HIDS?

if you're buying 5000K HIDs by any chance, you might want to check out V-LEDs.com. They have a 5000K LED Switchback bulb that will match your 5000K HIDs perfectly. They come in 6000K as well, but only for the 1157 bulb type.

from what I've understood, a 35W HID bulb will actually be cooler than it's corresponding Halogen bulb, so temperature should not be an issue. Keep in mind also that the low beam bulbs are surrounded by the projector housing, so there is a physical barrier between the HID bulb and the turn signal bulb.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by 2" spacing in the turn signal slot. If you buy a 7443s LED bulb, it will fit in the turn signal slot, guaranteed.

Also keep in mind that you will want to buy resistors for your LED switchbacks to eliminate hyperflash

Not 100% correct.

V-LEDS.com doesn't offer the switchback bulbs in 5000K for the 7443 bulbs (what 2010+ MZ3s need). They DO offer the 5000K switchback LEDs for the 1157 bulbs (what GTpntbll uses on his 1st gen 3). As far as I can find, the only color for the 7443 switchback bulbs from V-LEDS.com is 6000K (which they say matches most HID kits with 6000K-8000K color temps).

If you find out otherwise, let me know -- I have the 5000K HIDs and want the corresponding LEDs to match.

That's correct I was going off of what you said in your other thread, but I got it mixed up.

Re: LED Turn signal in headlights + HIDS?

Just as an update -- I sent V-LEDS.com an email about their switchback LEDs for 2nd gen Mazda3's:
Quote:
Are you guys planning on making a 5000K switchback LED in the 7443
bulb format? I currently have a 5000K HID set-up, and I only want matching
switchback LEDs. I know you offer the 5000K switchback LED in the 1157 bulb
size (among others, I'm sure), but I was wondering if there are any plans to
make a 5000K switchback LED in the 7443 bulb size. Thanks for the help!
Their response:
Quote:
Yes we will make the 5K very soon.

Thank you,

Customer Support
So... I guess we could wait for a 5000K switchback kit, as it'll be out "very soon". Not sure how soon that is, but whatever.

Re: LED Turn signal in headlights + HIDS?

You should ask how soon is "soon". I cant imagine it would take long if they actually are already in the process of making them. I would not suggest getting anything that doesn't match your bulbs perfectly. They sent me a 5000K instead of a 6000K by mistake and even that slight of a difference was really noticeable and tacky.

Replied to their email. I'll let you know what they say, when they say.

LED Turn signal in headlights + HIDS?

I just ordered the 6000k switchback bulbs from V-LEDs and I'm happy with them (I have Xenonexpert 5000k HIDs). They don't match 100% perfectly but I think they look really good together. I can post some pictures and videos if it would help you out.

Pictures and/or videos would be lovely.

I emailed V-LEDS.com back. They responded.

My reply:

Do you have an idea for how soon "very soon" is? I'm planning on doing a complete overhaul on my headlights in a couple weeks, and would be interested in getting them put in by then.
Their reply:

Hi Branden,
No, we have no ETA on those; I can safely say it will not be within a couple weeks. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you,

Clearly, their definition and my definition of "very soon" are not the same...

Re: LED Turn signal in headlights + HIDS?

I wouldn't be surprised if your suggestion to make a 5000k version was the first time the idea sparked in their head, so they just said "soon" to appease you.
