HID Bulb Suggestion

Hi Everyone,
So for quick background, prior to buying my Speed i had a 2010 Mazda 3 GT. The HID's in that car were awesome! Nice, flat cut-off of the beam and the headlights just seemed cleaner and brighter then my Speed's HID's. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has noticed the same thing - hopefully Mazda didn't use cheaper components in the 2011 models. Anyway, i want to replace the stock HID bulbs in my speed with new ones in the 5000-6000 temp range. Any suggestion for top-quality bulbs and color? There are just too many choices for the slightly informed like myself.

Re: HID Bulb Suggestion

Usually 5000k is good! Gives you a tinge of blue but not too blue like. 6000K is more blue looks nice For optimal light output I'd recommend 5000K

Re: HID Bulb Suggestion

Due to everyone having different visual perception 5000K is only optimal on paper. For instance mine is 8000K 4500-5000K to me is dull. You need to choose to your visual perception.

That stuff coming out of your HUGE chrome exhaust you have mounted at an angle isn't power..It's Rice!!!

Re: HID Bulb Suggestion

I'm really leaning towards the new Osram CBI 5000k bulbs but they are expensive. There is quite the thread over at HIDplanet about them.

Re: HID Bulb Suggestion

I got DDM 5000K and they are bright but if you want the most light, 4300K is what most oem applications are. 5000K is very nice perfect balance of white and blue imo.

Re: HID Bulb Suggestion

I agree having gone over the choices myself; 5k is probably the way to go. I have a 2010 3SGT and I think that the stock HIDs looked awesome and not too yellow until I changed out the parking lights for LED switchbacks, and the accent light to LED as well. The both of them surrounding my heads now make the stock HIDs look kinda bleh; I keep going back and forth on whether or not to change them. I did DDM 6k in the fogs and they look really good; way better and of course brighter than stock. So I'm thinking that 5k in the projectors would be a damn near perfect match since the projectors can in some cases increase the blue tint; bringing them closer to my fogs which supposedly lose some blue without the projectors. Regarding the question as to whether or not mazda has cheaped out COUGH I mean changed the HIDs for 2011; I for some reason remember looking at some of the 3's in 2010 and seeing a slight blueish tint to the projector lens. It may have just been the reflection from the sky; I'm not sure. Although funny enough I don't think I've seen ANY 2011's with the HIDs yet as mazda supposedly doesn't put the bixenons OR LED tails on the GT anymore unless you get the tech package; what a rip. If anyone has pix after HID conversions, it would be awesome to see some.

Here's a pic from DDM Tuning. Pretty close to what my friend and i got. I have the 5000K and my friend got the 6000K. He regrets getting the 6000K and thinks he should've gotten the 5000K.

Re: HID Bulb Suggestion

5000k is really pure white. Pretty nice, but I have 6000k on mine. Have a tiny hint of blue, but not too much.

Working on getting a sig. Until then, here is my cars Ti-Gray thread!

Re: HID Bulb Suggestion

Thanks for all the advice guys, in ended up biting the bullet and getting the Osrams and let me tell you; they are totally awesome! Brighter then stock and a very pure white color Now is just need to do something about my fogs. Anyone know of LED bulbs that will fit? I guess i could also do HID's in the fogs but i don't want to blind people or worry about frying something.
