HID Question

I hate to being beating dust out of an old rug but, I have a question. I've read all the posts on HID conversions but something always seems to be left out. I've looked in three places today at HID kits and the one question I have is, do I need anything extra besides the ballasts? If I order from Xenon Expert, DDMTuning.com, or sharphid.com, they all have different things. DDM gives a list of add on stuff and I read on SharpHID that I would need a battery wiring harness. I know Xenon Expert and DDMTuning are both board members and that they wouldn't steer us wrong but I just want a definate answer so I don't have to wait any longer to install my kit after I order it.

Re: HID Question

Those extras are left out of the other posts because they aren't necessary. All you need to do is order the kit and that is all.

Re: HID Question

for 35w kits that's it. bulb and ballasts.

for 55w kits, get the battery harness to be on the safe side.

Re: HID Question

Thanks for the help and quick response in your replies. I'm gonna go through DDM and get the 35w kit. I'm choosing 5000k for the color temp because I like to look. Not too stock but not too aftermarket. Again thanks for the help.

Re: HID Question

One more question. Why is there such a price difference between DDM and Xenon Expert? It's the same kit and both offer a lifetime warranty right?

Not sure. Is shipping built in to one price or the other?

Re: HID Question

I am looking to purchase a slim ballast kid from DDMTuning. My friend recommends I get a 55w kit with the 8000k bulbs and the harness. If I aim them properly, will I have issues with blinding people / glare? Are there any problems that arise with the 55w that don't occur with the 35w? And 2011 mazda 3's use H11 bulbs, right? Thanks for your help!

55w with 6000k bulbs will be a more pure white (great light output, i used it for about 3 years). 8000k will have a more bluish tone.

there will still be glare since the lenses are for halogens and not HIDs, but i've never had anyone flash their lights at me.

I've never had an issue with the 55w kit. as long as you use the harness, you'll be good.

you will hear folks say that 55w is too bright, but i think it's perfect if bulbs are seated correctly.

and yes H11 for 2011 mz3
