Headlight Unit Cost

I had to have a headlight replaced this week because my turn signal bulb fell down and melted out the back of the unit.

I'm sure many of you know this already - but - the unit before labor costs 960$ - so just a user beware for everyone who is in inexperienced and messing with your headlights in any manner - the replacement isn't cheap

Re: Headlight Unit Cost

Wait, so the turn signal bulb fell into the headlight housing? Did you loosen it and not tighten it all the way back in? The bulb (in it's own little plastic housing) seats up underneath, so I would think that if it were to fall it'd fall into the engine bay. 2nd gen at least /shrug.

Re: Headlight Unit Cost

Have never touched the headlights - it didn't fall ALL the way back in - but enough to cause damage

Re: Headlight Unit Cost

That's what I was thinking too which is why I asked if he'd been messing around with them. I'm surprised that wasn't under warranty, did they assume you were messing around with it or something lol?

Re: Headlight Unit Cost

the car was in an accident as posted by OP and from my understanding it may have happened when they removed the front end. Or the force of the impact caused it to happen.

Re: Headlight Unit Cost

Sorry about that - he read it on another post I had - I didn't mention it because regardless of the accident the insurance adjuster and body shop are both saying it is not a result of the accident.

I got the insurance adjuster to pay for the cost of the unit - I have to pay labor.

Do it! Don't want to force people to stop - just informing everyone that they should be careful - it's a pretty expensive piece of the vehicle - especially if you screw up both haha
