Has anyone installed mirror-mounted turn signal repeaters on late 2010 cars?
I recently traded an early-build 2010 GT hatch in on a late-build car. I'm disappointed that the mirror-mounted turn signal repeaters and blue led foot well lighting are no longer standard equipment on the car. I see that I can purchase the foot well lighting as an accessory, but really want the turn signal repeaters.
I've talked with my dealership personnel, a local body shop, several wrecking yards, and Mazda USA. The dealership, body shop, and wrecking yards don't know the answer. Mazda USA states only that the modification is "not recommended" and refuses to give me a straight answer.
The parts department indicates that replacement parts would be approximately $200 per mirror. Before I order the parts, I want to be certain that the signal repeaters will work once the mirrors are installed. If the wiring harness and connectors haven't been changed, it should be a simple swap.
Has anyone attempted to replace this deleted equipment? Alternatively, has anyone had the opportunity to see the wiring harness and connector for the early vs. late-build cars to determine whether it is the same? Does anyone have access to wiring diagrams for the respective cars? Any of these sources should be able to tell me whether or not this swap is as simple as it should be.
Thank you for your help.
