Smart turn signal

Mazda gave me the personalization card to change any of the computer settings from what they ship as stock. Timing of interior lights, whether the door locks at speed, etc.

One of these options, and the only one I'm wanting to change, is called smart turn signal. I brought my 3 in for it's first oil change and tire rotation recently and requested that the smart turn signal be enabled (since it ships disabled). Looks like that isn't an option for my vehicle.

Has anyone else had this feature enabled successfully? Is this limited to the GT models? I have an s Sport and I would really like this feature because I do a lot of highway travelling.

Re: Smart turn signal

From what I've been told, it all depends on the dealership you go to. They must have updated software to do these changes. If one can't do it, just try another dealership. Eventually you will find one that can. I know around my area there are a couple who wont do it but a hand full of others that will.

Done on both my wife's 3 and my 3. Both are 2010 GT's though. It's a great feature and if it says so on the card, it should have that ability.

[/quote]It blinks 3 times if you push the blinker stick in either direction without actually locking it in place. It's the equivalent of holding it before it locks, but you don't have to hold it (obviously).

Re: Smart turn signal

My dealer said it wasn't available on my car either. Then a couple weeks later I get a card in the mail from Mazda telling me about the cool features I can have adjusted and it lists the smart turn signal on there. I am taking my car in again next week and am going to talk to them about it again.

Re: Smart turn signal

Call up different dealerships in your area if one wont do it. You should be able to find one that will.

Yea, my dealer said it wasn't available on my S HB. They said it was only available for the GT, but they did't sound to sure about it.

Re: Smart turn signal

If you want it bad enough there is an easy-to-install aftermarket one........

http://www.webelectricproducts.com/

I bought one for my '08 3... haven't installed it yet, but I am 100% sure it will work -- the module simulates the turn signal lever being held/clicked in the "on" position.

They don't list the Mazda3, but the only difference between the version for different cars is the installation instructions... but as long as you have a wiring diagram for your car it's easy to put in: +12V, ground, ign (or acc), plus the turn-left and turn-right wires from the turn-signal lever.
