TSX-R 2.5" Clear lens

Would there be a problem if I swapped the stock halogen projector lens with a TSX-R clear lens?

Thanks!

If the diameters are the same, then there's no problem.

Re: TSX-R 2.5" Clear lens

Each lens has different refraction ratio. Same diameter isn't indication of compatibility..

2010 projector is Koito projector and optic charactor is close to MDX, Camry projectors. ( TSX:stanley)
I remember TSX's 2.5" lens is slightly smaller than Koito 2.5" and there is minor refraction ratio difference too.

I could get close enough output on MDX sample, but not sure if 2010Mazda3 use same Koito projector like MDXs...
Contact TRS for spec and compatibility to make sure if they can be used in 2010.

I have my 2010 Halogen projectors out of the housing, I can swap in a few lens and test them for you.

IMO, the projector is really dinky and not worth the $70 for the clear lens. If you are already cracking the housings open and have the confidence to do a little cutting, just retro a set of HID projectors.

I just wanted to do the clear lens mod, I don't know if I am ready to do a complete retro! Is there a retro that would not require any cutting?

Do have lenses you can test or did you want me to send them out to you?

Re: TSX-R 2.5" Clear lens

Hmm, you may be able to get away with no cutting by using a smaller projector, the S2k's I have in mine are pretty fat, so I had to cut away some material to make it sit properly. This was one of the easier retrofits I have done, and I am sure if you plan it properly, it will go well

For doing just a lens swap, I ll test the projector on different clear lens maybe later tonight if I have time. I have a few 2.5" lens left sitting around that I can test for you. Off the top of my head (AP1 S2k, FX Frosted, Celica clear lens, RX330 Fresnal and maybe a few more if I can find them).

Re: TSX-R 2.5" Clear lens

After talking with Matt at theretrofitsource.com, I've decided to try the TSX-R lenses. I will post some pics when I am complete (hopefully this weekend).
