2010 mazda3 s sport, converting to HID

First of all, I have a new 2010 mazda3 s sport and I would like to convert my headlights to the HIDd, just like the GT has. I've talked with the dealer and they said it'll cost upwards of $3000. Seemed a bit much, maybe they misunderstood.

Anyways, Ive also been looking around the forum an I'm looking for someone who has put the HIDs on their 2010 3, how difficult it was, what brand and type you used, and whether or not it has given you and problems so far. I want a good brightness without having an overly "blue" light. I'd I can match the GT, that would be great. Thanks for any help or advice anyone can lend me!

The HIDs from the GT are so expensive because they are self-leveling adaptive bixenon lamps. Given this and that they're controlled by steering, they've VERY expensive. 3k sounds about right.

You can buy a HID kit to upgrade the quality of light. I believe you use H11.

Re: 2010 mazda3 s sport, converting to HID

I used the ddm 35w 5000k kit and it is a simple install. No tools required just plug and go. If you want stock color you might want to go with the 4300k setup. The H11 bulb is the one you want to use also.

Way cheaper than $3000 and the light performance is much better than the halogens.

Re: 2010 mazda3 s sport, converting to HID

Just got my HIDs installed on my 2010 hatch. I got the DDM 35W's from here:

Was going to take pictures of the install, but there really isn't anything to take pictures of. Installs in about 10 minutes. Just plug 'n play. Taped the ballast to the headlight housing:

How long did it take until the kit arrived?

Depends on where you live. I think Xenonexpert ships from CA, therefore you will receive yours within a day or two since you're from CA.

Thanks for the picture, I'm a pretty big newbie to this stuff. I think I'm making it more complicated then it has to be though. I decided to go with the Phillips 6000k, it arrived today and I'm looking forward to the project.

Just FYI, it's actually a little bit cheaper to buy direct from DDM:

Is the 55W too bright for a daily driver, I certainly don't want to blind anyone. Also H11 for the 2010's correct?
