What lightweight battery and battery warranty?

I took my 2010 Speed 3 for the 4 year service this week and the dealer says the OEM battery gives a number of error codes when tested and that it needs to be replaced. First question I want to ask is if there's any full/partial warranty for our OEM batteries as this seems to be a widespread practice. Second question, what is your experience with lightweight batteries? Are they worth it and what brands? My car is an European model btw.

I'll just focus on lightweight batteries; gains are barely noticeable for the average user. The important part about lightweight batteries is you can't / don't really want to trust them as a daily battery since they aren't meant for holding a huge amount of power in the first place nor having a huge CCA (cold cranking amps). Meaning you will find yourself plugging a battery tender to them very often to keep them powered.

Nowadays I just say go with a solid or a gel battery (as opposed to the average / OEM liquid acid batteries), that has a high CCA number, and can be trustworthy.

The performance of a lightweight battery will never outweigh a battery that is guaranteed to start your car in the worst conditions.

Thanks, any brand recommendations? Hopefully something available in Europe. A quick google suggests that solid state batteries are not a reality and still years away and that gel batteries are too expensive and impractical (special alternator or regulator needed). So the only viable alternative is AGM batteries but can anyone confirm?
