Rear rattling noise at highway speed

I have a 2007 mazda 3 2.3L non-turbo. I have about 145k miles in and i started to hear rattling noise a few days ago. it seems to get worse each day. the metallic rattleing noise seems to be coming from the trunk. but i removed everything and the noise is still there. i cant figure it out, need help.

Most likely culprit is a failed upper shock mount, so check there first. Very inexpensive, and easy to replace.
