Fuel system help?
Hi, just bought a 2008 Mazda3 GTs 2.3 Hatch. Loving this Go-Cart, but I've had every common problem so far with this thing except(crosses fingers) timing chain and power steering. I've done all 4 struts, 4 sway bar links, O2, MAF, Brakes & Rotors, plugs, filter, stupid drivers window switch, air con compressor, belt tensioner pulley & assembly, and a TCM is in the mail. Currently sitting on 114k miles and still running strong.
Barring any set backs I will begin a bolt on process in an attempt to get near 200 hp w/o turbo, then add turbo later. Or scrap and swap in a 2.5 w turbo. I have exterior plans as well as building up an '86 Z28(but that's for a different forum) and I do not have unlimited funding unfortunately. I like having a "sleeper" look of not being the speed.
My question is, should I bother getting a high flow fuel pump? or injectors? I hear 2 schools of thought on upgrading this first, and I was raised believing that you want 10 gph per 100 hp. I don't know what stock is but I have a feeling its near 40 gph. If that's the case, why upgrade them ever unless you are building an off street beast?
My experience is more with older carburated vehicles.
I also reposted this because I put this in the new member thread and think it fits here better.
