Airbag Warning Light on- Any tips?

So I've had my airbag light on for a while, and my inspection ran out. Of course it won't pass with the light on, and I would rather not pay the diagnostic fee at the dealership to see whats wrong. Are there common issues I can try out? I have been having issue with the seatbelt sensor going off randomly even though Im buckled. Maybe a seat sensor? I haven no knowledge on this.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:
Problem has been solved. Seat belt pre-tensioner went bad, getting it fixed this Wednesday!

Probably a code that needs to be read.

I'd highly recommend checking the codes it's throwing, and get that fixed ASAP. Airbag issues aren't something to mess around with.

Hello everyone.

I noticed that the airbag light in the instrument cluster recently came on in my 2008 Mazda3 5-door. It came on the day after I spent two hours replacing my cabin air filter. Thinking back, in order to get under the dashboard I was laying on the passenger seat at odd angle and I think I may have dislodged or damaged the seat weight sensor. I've noticed that the passenger occupancy warning light above the ashtray no longer comes on at all whether someone's in the seat or not.

is it possible to remove the fabric from the seats, and then inspect or adjust or replace the seat occupancy sensor? Or is that a lost cause? I've noticed that if I squeeze and pinch the fabric above where the sensor is located, and move the sensor around, the light will go off for a few hours until someone sits in the seat again.if it's not possible to access the sensor, I guess my options are buying an emulator or replacing the seat entirely.

what do you think? Is it stupid to even try? Should I just spring for the emulator? I really appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks everybody.
