"bounce" at 70km/h

there are 2 parts to this thread:

06 3 with only 17,000km and it sounds / feels fine up until about 60 clicks and once up to 70kmh seems to bounce or flutter. The WHOLE car feels like it is bouncing. It doesn't chug, but bounces / flutters. We just had a huge snowstorm here and ended up having to really jerk the car around this weekend in order to navigate home from work. Got stuck a few times. Maybe this has something to do with it? Car is still under warranty, so probably going there this week anyways.

Same car last week started when I lightly hold the accelerator down and maintain constant speed, engine becomes quite loud and sounds like grinding (?). but it sounds like an 1986 Oldsmobile or something. Doesn't matter what speed I'm travelling.

ANY and all help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Cheers, Case

floating sounds like bad shocks/struts.
the loud sound is kinda scary...i'd take that in asap.

finally got the car into my garage to warm up here for a few hours one night. Everything thawed out and took er out for a hard spin and vibrations and sounds have stopped. So im guessing everything in the car was just damn cold.

Remember california boys, there was 2 feet of snow on the road and temperatures were -30C haha.

Hell, if it ends up being a busted strut, just gives me another excuse to lower her in the spring!!1

I have the same problem. The dealer told me my front passenger shock was leaking oil and they replaced it on warranty a few months back. However, this only provided temporary relief and my car started bouncing again a few weeks later. I thought that my tires might be seriously unbalanced at the time. 2 days ago my clutch broke while I was driving down a mountain road and I had to tow my car 65 miles to the nearest dealer. When a Mazda mechanic inspected it, he told me that the engine mount was broken too.

I think the broken engine mount may have contributed to the strut leaking oil and my clutch getting destroyed. Unfortunately, I'm 5k over the 50k warranty limit.

If I were you I'd make sure they at least check the mounts and struts. Hope things work out for you at the dealer.

Also, you depending on the year of your Mazda you may be able to ask the dealer to give your a revised engine mount.

This has turned out to be really helpful. I have noticed this happening to me, when i get around 55mph. I guess I should take it in to get it looked at. Thanks.
