Buying New 2017 Grand Touring Hatch questions

Im reaching the end of VW diesel buyback process and I will be looking at purchasing a new car. Specifically:

2017 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Hatchback

Premium Package

Soul Red Metallic

Black interior

Backup sensors

and possibly the Aero Package.

I was wondering about the last 2. Did anyone purchase these for their car? I would much rather have them then the camera, personally. Are these dealer installed items?

And the Aero package, I was wondering how much ground clearance is lost with these installed. Are these also dealer installed items?

I've looked at every dealership website in a 250m radius of me and I havent found a single car with these specific options.

We're going to be buying soon too. A 2017 CWP Grand Touring, black leather, sunroof, and HUD. The aero package is too pricey, and all I want out of it is the rear spoiler. That can be bought online and I'll install it. Don't know about the back up sensors, is that part of a package?

Backup sensors will be part of the lane change warning system. Both that and the backup camera are standard eq.

That can also be purchased separately and installed at the dealer. They cost about 700$ installed.

Aero package is, I believe a dealer installed option.

Sent from a Samsung that doesn't explode.

I have seen a few GT 5-doors (2016 models) with the Appearance Package installed and included on the window sticker ($1750, if I'm not mistaken). You can always add it to any GT 5-door at the dealership and you can choose which of the features you want and skip any that you don't. The package includes (Front air dam, Rear diffuser, Side sills, Rear spoiler and Door mirror caps) and they're all Brilliant Black. Personally, the Rear Spoiler is the only item I would want and it lists for $399.95 (and looks like an easy installation).

Rear Backup Sensors are also a dealer-installed option/accessory. The parts list for $449.90 plus installation, but you could probably negotiate that into the deal when you buy the car. When I bought my 2012 CX-9, I had a list of five or six accessories that I wanted. I added all of them at 20% off and with free installation.

I agree with you that the Backup Sensors are more useful than the Backup Camera (at least to me). I respond to audible warning better than visual ones.

Good luck with the new ride! BTW, great color combo choice...I'd pick the same one. Are you getting the manual or automatic?

I pulled the trigger and bought my car. 2017 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Hatchback. It has the premium package and I had the rear backup sensors install. The car was about 200 miles away in Burnsville Minnesota, near St. Paul. (Burnsville Mazda)

I had tried to buy one locally but my salesman didn't want to answer any of my questions until i was ready to buy. His loss I guess. They didn't have the car I wanted anyway and they probably would have dealer transferred this exact car since I found out that this car was only one of three available for sale in the US currently.

I purchased the car on 12-28-16. I wanted to take advantage of the the holiday rebates before they expired on the 3rd of Jan.

I inquired about the car online and they connected me to my salesman Scott Myers. I had sent along three somewhat unusal questions about that car which he was able to answer immediately. After dealing for weeks with my crappy sales guy here in town, this guy got me the info I wanted in one email.

So I decided to go up thinking I could negotiate on top of the rebates. When I was ready to make the offer I had found out that they are a non negotiate dealer. All the sales people are paid hourly + bonuses for quota. I was ok with this becuase they acutally gave me a pretty good deal off the bat.

So here is the break down

$27680 MSRP
$751.11 Backup Sensors and Weathertech floor liners(Which was 500$ plus install and tax)
$114.95 Out of State Doc fees
$75 Normal flat rate doc fee
$344.20 License Plates(surprisingly high, more then my Passat)
$1349 Taxes

The rebates I recieved were:

$700 Dealer Discount
$750 VW conquest (emission scandal deal)
$500 Holiday Cash
$500 Came as part of a package with 0% interest for 63 months financing

27864.24 was the Total out the door price. I put 8k down and financed the rest.

If you just figure the car and the rebates its $25,230

Invoice on the car was $26,333 so I'd like to think I did pretty well.

I didnt buy any warranties and the only accesoriy I bought were Weathertech Floor matsand the Backup Sensors.

I get to pick up the car this saturday, I cant wait. I already have an appointment at a good place to get undercoating and a Smart Start installed. The dealer wanted too much to go their way and get the same product.

I still need to setup a time to get the windows tinted and I plan on gutting the interior this spring or summer to install some Hushmat.

Now I just need to find a service manual for the car.

I will post some pics when I get the car.
