Let me know if this is a good deal

Looking at getting a Mazda 3 and I found this one at a local dealership.

http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...04/overview/#3

Short summary:
- $6,931
- 2005 mazda 3 i touring hatchback
- 5 speed manual
- 117,000 miles
- One accident per Car Fax (car was rear-ended)
- Some rust on the rotors
- Paint is good except for the roof which looks a bit dull
- Driver door window control allows back windows to go down but not back up (have to reach back and hit the button to roll them up)
- Slight squeaking starts when A/C is turned on

Everything else on the vehicle checks out from what I could see. Interior is good, tires are good, and it has an aftermarket stereo in the console.

I was able to talk them down from $6931 to $6300 but I'd really like to go a bit lower.

Any and all advice or information would be much appreciated. Thanks for having a look.

Sounds like way too much to me. For 6K I would expect a car with no accidents and everything working fine.
Then again, Mazda3s are a dime a dozen here in QC, so if you're set on a mazda3 and have no options, well that's a different story.

I'm down in Florida and I'm finding a few Mazda 3's around town. I figure I look this one up and talk to the dealer just to see what they wanted. They're above KBB and way above Edmunds in terms of dealer asking price.

I'm thinking they took it at too much in trade-in and are trying to break even or just sitting on it till they send it to auction.

Appreciate the info.

Oooor maybe they're just trying to screw you to make as much money as possible.
They don't call them stealerships for nothing
Good luck with the hunt

Way overpriced for the condition it's in.

Yeah, I've decided to look elsewhere. I know there are a couple around the area that are priced lower.

Offer them $5500. Just remind them about the accident, faulty door switches, no OEM stereo, no floor mats/cargo cover, bad rotors, faded paint and also throw-in the filthy condition the interior is in. Just repainting the car will easily be over $1000.

It's a very nice car, but all those things you need to fix or replace can easily add up. And who knows what other gremlins might pop-up while doing it. If I were you, I would try and figure out a rough estimate of what it'll cost to get it running and looking to my desire. Honestly, I wouldn't paint it because all the savings would go down the drain with a nice paint job. Just give it a good professional detail.

I'd say not a penny more than 5... as Darth said, gremlins could pop up and it is a 10 year old car. That is very old in my opinion.

Furthermore, it is at a Lexus dealership which I didn't notice before - that means whoever dropped it off bought a very expensive new car. That means, the dealership probably gave them next to nothing for it - probably 2-3k MAX.

Oh believe me, I mentioned this stuff to them and the guy just said "Its a used car and we're pricing it at how the market is going." I just shook his hand and said thanks.

I did offer them 5500 for it and they said they couldn't do that. They said they couldn't even do 6000. They're just sitting on it for the most part.
