08.5 MS3 GT...08 MS3 Sport...what to do what to do

got a dealer to $18,500 on an 08.5 MS3 GT, red. only 5,123 miles. they are firm at that price. should i go for it? i'm not really familiar with used car haggling strategies.

also i found an 08 MS3 Sport, black, with 13,779 miles for $16,159. that seems like a great deal, i am hoping to get a GT but i mean that's cheap and i could probably get over it. does either deal seem much better than the other?

edit: btw i did post this in the "is this a good deal" thread but got no response so i wanted to try a new thread. thanks.

The 08.5 updates and the GT package are worth the difference in price. Not to mention it is low miles. I would go for it on the 08.5.

Re: 08.5 MS3 GT...08 MS3 Sport...what to do what to do

yea i think the miles are probably the biggest factor in that one. there's an 09 GT that i'm working on, got 7k miles on it. i talked to the guy earlier and he said they're set at $18,977, won't move from there. then he just called me and left a message saying it has "18-inch factory wheels that should make the car worth more" which i laughed at. i might call him back and ask if he thinks i'm stupid...not sure if that's a good haggling strategy lol. maybe he meant to say aftermarket. not sure.

edit: it has CX-9 wheels on it.

fortunately i'm in no rush so i can play the waiting game until i find the right one.

that red 08.5 is lookin good though.

Does the 08.5 have the alcantara seats? If so go with that

GT >> Sport

The auto rain sesning wipers, auto on headlights, led tails, hid headlights, and alcantara make the GT a much better choice. It's well worth the price dif!

yah i have checked the carfaxes, they're all clean as a whistle. i may buy one anyway just for the buyback guarantee.

i'm certainly leaning toward the GT now. forgot about the auto lights and wipers

Re: 08.5 MS3 GT...08 MS3 Sport...what to do what to do

ugh i found a couple used '10 MS3s, one with 4k miles and one with 6k miles, both priced at nearly $22k. i thought about trying to haggle on those but they're just out of my ideal price range. prolly still stick with an 08, and maybe go to a later model MS3 in a couple years once they've worked out the kinks and done some refreshes (GT trim!).
