I love being able to buy stuff NOT made in China, that being said I may try to purchase a BSD some where else, now being aware of all the hidden costs etc.

Still waiting for my refund, I sent them an email this morning telling them "if they can't keep one customer happy how do they expect to survive."

Yeah... I ordered that 2.3 baffle back in June via Paypal. GPWerks never answered the phone or either of my emails. Two months later I took it to Paypal, waited another week and then made a claim. Got my money back the next day after that. I'm sure they're good guys and all that and are busy and what not, but it is seriously discouraging business, especially for such a small market like ours. :/

Reading this is discouraging. Acquiring the BSD is easy but does anyone else make the baffle for the MZ3?

Was planning on doing this soon but if GPwerks doesn't ship their stuff, I am going to learn from your experiences and simply not order from them.

If I must, I will find a way to fabricate my own part. It's really just a few pieces of aluminum. All one needs is the template.

A BSD made for a Speed3 would most likely work, but I know for certain JBR carries BSD's specifically for the NA 2.3L. If they ship a BSD half as fast as they did my shift bushings/shifter plate/RMM they'll be a joy to work with.

If you, or anyone decides to start making these, I have two words: Group Buy. I can't say anyone will do a lot of volume with these, but GPwerks was the last holdout I knew of that made baffles for the non-speed engines and they just don't seam to be reliable to deal with.

It's to bad I don't have a tig welder and access to a shop anymore. Heck, I don't require the welder, though it would make for a better end product.

I do currently have a spare oil pan that I could use for test fitting and the bolt pattern but without taking the oil pan off my Mazda, I don't know the exact dimensions of the open slot for the oil pick-up.

Really I just need a template and the rest is just cutting and drilling. If I had my own garage and enough interest, I'd definitely make these to sell.

Finding a BSD is easy and not the problem. It's finding a company that sells the baffle and ships in a timely fashion.

Do you have a balance shaft lying around? Because it's massive. The oil pickup sits right up against the passenger edge, about an inch away, of the center pan part that's deeper, and the balance shaft assembly occupies the rest of that deep square. The assembly displaces so much oil it's not a problem for the pickup. The oil pickup is also really high in the oil pan, which I thought was weird. If you leave three and a half inches against that side, the pickup will have all the room it needs.

Heck, if I'd known GPwerks wasn't going to come through, I would've been making a template and a baffle the week my car was on jack stands.
