Re: Why I think 1st gen MZ3 was special.

Agreed with Say Chi Sin Lo... The MZ3 was a trailblazer in econo style cars. I know you've had both gens to compare, but you should probably compare equal trim levels. I looked at a 2nd gen, no-frills, sedan. I also looked at a 08 GT hatch that was loaded. I was really close to going with the '08 until I came across a slightly used 2010 S GT sedan w/tech package, sunroof, leather and... well, they are different. On the outside, I've always liked the look of the 1st gen better, but to be honest with you, it was the drive and the luxury of the new ones that won me hands down. Another reason is if I am going to be financing this car for a few years, I want something that is a current model. May sound petty but it's how I feel.

could have spent a little more time with the paint. This car chips and marks up more than any other car I'v had... I might notice it more because i have black mica though. idk?

That's Mazda paint in general. Believe me I speak the truth on this one as my family currently owns three different Mazdas and they all chip horribly and have incredibly thin paint.

+1

but I've noticed this across all brands (at least the one's I've owned). i've owned an infiniti and toyota, in addition to the mazda and they all have the same crappy paint.

I read a while back that manufacturers are taking on a "green"/cost cutting approach.
