I believe there is a TSB out for the #3 motor mount - so it would be free if your vehicle's VIN is in the affected range.

I din't know that TSBs were free?!

i'm at ~25k on my 04 2.3 sedan and I haven't had many problems. I have a feeling that my passenger side mount might be toast but i'm not entirely sure how to tell whether it is or not. Other than that, its just the normal rattles and squeaks that one would expect from an econobox. Lately my serpentine belt has become a little noisy on cold starts.

Re: What are the Common Problems on the Mazda3?

I just past the 36k mile bumper to bump warranty limit.

I took printed copies of all TSB's that affected my VIN on my 07 M3 i Touring 5MT and NON PZEV to the dealership and had them fix everything I could. The only exceptions are the TSB's that are my yr but I had no probs with, like the seat lift crank issue. The only NON-TSB related issue was the foam, heat insulator on the trans tunnel had separated on one rivet, (plastic?)

I still have the factory Toyo's. They still are good. (Tell's me the 1st orig owner was not an 'abuser&#039

As far as dust on wheels from the brakes...normal and I don't get freeked out about it either. As a kid I worked the local Benz dealer. TALK ABOUT BRAKE DUST. But I don't mind, we see racecars w/ dust, so what...

Some very, very minor interior squeaks, like the seat (bracket?), guess my fat ass is too much. But I'm 'only' 6'2" at 195 lbs. Still, the seats are more comfortable and decently sized. Try sitting a new Toyota Sienna. Feels like a bar stool in comparison. But pls don't drink & drive.

All above are hairsplitting "issues" -ihmo.

Now, some of the more potentially serious issues are:
The thump-thump-thump noise I'm getting from the tires(?) at speed 40mph+, especially banking left. I think it's the old Toyo's. But am also eyeballing the motor mounts just incase.

I hear on cold start after rain storm (maybe 1 out of 8 times), what sounds like a hisss from the accessory belt area. Seems to be a acc belt tensioner (plastic) probable cause, from searchin this site. My driver's carpet footwell has no issues really. But I don't STAND on it w/ my left foot either.

But the biggest thing is: I'M SO DAMN GLAD IT DOES NOT HAVE A FREAKIN TIMING BELT!!!!!

Bout time the mfr's did away with that TOTAL BELT BS!!!

I had a shop replace my door due to an accident and they forgot to plug in a connection inside the door panel which left me with the "door ajar" problem and it draining my battery... First thing I would do after that experience would be to take every door panel off and make sure all connections are nice and tight. Very simple procedure and I hope that's the problem you're having and not anything else!

So I'm looking to buy a 2007 Mazda 3s hatchback from a local dealer. The car is in very good shape. Is there anything I should look for in the car that could indicate a problem?

On an S2000 there is the major #4 cylinder problem, and there is the minor Clutch Plate Buzz problem. On '99 Miatas and E46 M3s, some engines tear themselves apart due to a factory defect (bearings I think).

What should I be aware of regarding the Mazda3?
I have a 2016 Mazda3 touring. I bought it brand new and have owned it for 10 months. I was driving when it was snowing and raining and the front windshield wipers stopped working in mid-cycle while I was driving. I was able to pull over but the wipers would not start up or work again. The dealer is trying to figure out the problem and I am driving a loaner because with no wipers the car is unsafe. My research shows this is a known problem on Mazda3 for prior years. Once they fix the wiper problem I will probably sell the car because I don't trust the car to be safe anymore and buy anything other than a Mazda. You gotta have reliable wipers that work all the time. This is unacceptable behavior from Mazda.
