Re: High Mileage Thread
I just broke 55k on my 06 2.0 i touring. Bought it back in March at 50k, drove it 5k miles so far. My headlight burned out yesterday and paid $40 bucks to fix it, I thought i'd be able to get Sylvana halogens for like $10 bucks and do it myself, but I was on a time constraint and didn't want to mess around with restraining pins and what not. My seatbelt buckle came loose, looks like the bolt is on the edge and ready to fall off. Took it to the dealer today and they'll replace it under warranty, dunno why they need to replace it instead of just tightening the bolt. According to the dealer, it had new brakes, tires put in at 50k when they got it, but the tires really blow, they have 0 grip on wet roads, Infact I slid down a slight incline in Worcester on a rainy day, scared the crap outa me. The 50k on this car is apparently highway miles, and the driver before me never pushed it to hard and performed all routine maintenance. I'm just praying that this car holds out to 200k/250k miles .. or for the next 6/7 Years. I take real good care of it and don't push it hard at all. Seems to accelerate just fine to 40/50 with only a light touch on the gas.
The reason I bought the 3 was due mostly to the experience I had with it's predecessor The Protege. Amazing car, I drove it from 60k miles to 80k miles with no problems other than brake replacement. My dad now puts 60/70 miles on it a day, car runs just fine.
From everything I've read so far, it seems that most of the problems with the 3s have been occurring in the 04, 05 models, guess they were making the switch from the proto to the 3 and they still had kinks to work out...if that makes any sense.
I like my roads the same way I like my women. Nice and Curvy.
