Gen 1 Heater Core Replacement

My car has 179K on it and, AFIK, has the original heater core. I've searched high and low for information regarding replacement and, unfortunately, there's not much out on Teh InterWebz. Pictures, descriptions, or anything else beyond someone dashing off a few sentences for "how difficult it was".

I've been through the 2007 manual to familiarize myself with the procedure, but I'm curious if anyone here has had to tackle the job. Based on my experience, I can see this being an all weekend process since it will be the first time for me with this car. My old Ford Escort took me almost five hours the first time I had to disassemble the dash, but the third time I went in there I could have it apart in 35-minutes. My 1997 Dodge Ram was an all-day process as well, even with some short cuts gleaned from others.

Anyway, I'm just psyching myself up for that day when it will eventually happen.

I feel extraordinarily bad for you if you had to change a heater core three times...

Heh. I only had to replace the heater core once. The other two times I dismantled the dash were for other issues.
