Why did the coyote cross the road?

To get hit by me going 60 mph!!! So I was drivin home from work and I was on the merrit parkway (if anyone is familiar with that area) in Orange, CT and a coyote was crossing the road. Its a few hundred feet from me, so I slow down of course. It gets to almost to the island between my lane and the oncoming traffic lane but then the asshole to my left doesnt even slow down, so the stupid coyote runs back right into my lane. The good news is I think the coyote learned his lesson and he wont ever do it again. Because hes probably dead. It didnt feel like I ran him over, but I think I just hit him with my front bumper. The bad news: the lower mesh grill (black plastic) is pushed in a little. Its not totally messed up, I think I can push it from the back and then use electrical tape to fix it. Its really not that bad. Theres no other damage as far as I can see, it was pretty dark though. The tow hook hole, the little plastic circle, was pushed out a little but I just pushed it back in with my finger and it looks fine. My bumper is not dented at all so I think it should be ok. Just in case, does anyone know how much the bottom grill goes for? Any nice aftermarket ones? Besides the billet grill, I hate those.

Saab crash tests its cars for moose impact. Maybe you could sell this story to Mazda for an advertisement: All the zoom zoom and engineered for coyote resistance. Seriously, glad to hear it's not anything major.

Re: Why did the coyote cross the road?

wow...you got lucky if thats all you came out with. And if you got him with your bottem grill and bent that, you must of hit him pretty well cause he wouldn't extend his leg that far out while running to just get his leg. Nevertheless, I would consider yourself lucky. As for the grill, If you can push it back and tape it up without look like Shizzel, go for it. I doubt you'll be able to. Now is prob the best time to look into getting a small grill mod like you said. If your not willing to get the bullet grill, you could always goto most if not any performance shop and see what kind of unversial grills they have and cut it down or have them do it if your dont want to give cutting it down a try.

Frigging coyotes. Shouldn't they be chasing roadrunners?

Go to your dealer, see the body man and ask how the grille comes out. Remove it, bring it inside to warm it up, it may return to normal shape. Then, use super glue or model glue to set the cracks back together. If there are no pieces missing you should be able to repair it fairly well.
