MAZDASPEED3 FORCED TO GO FORGED!! Updated budget/timeline!!!

The problem: rebuilt turbo + 19psi (I forgot the boost was turned up that high)+ untuned + fmic + sri + tbe + cdfp + turbo manifold= holes in my block( even though a/f never went above 12.1)
The solution: PROTEGE GARAGE and MACON MOORE PERFOMANCE
SPEC 3+ clutch
New block-Mazda OEM
Crankshaft- Mazda OEM
Forged Rods-Pauter Rod set
Rod bearings- Mazda OEM
Piston kit -Arias piston 8:8
Head Gaskets- Mazda OEM
Engine Gaskets kit-Mazda OEM
Main Bearings- Mazda OEM
Thrust WasherMazda OEM
Head Stud Kit -ARP
Mainstuds -ARP

The progress All parts are ordered, with some already here. I will post pics of all parts that come in. Also i'm using a local garage to but everything together for me Macon Moore Performance.

Time Line, all parts were suppose to be here with two weeks
-25APR08 Install new turbo
26APR08 fuck up the motor but it runs
-28APR08 Put a rod through the block
-29MAY08 Pay for all parts
-16JUN08 Recieved pistons, clutch, gaskets and hardware
-LEAVE for LDAC 22JUN08
-Unknown time- Recieved Rods
-RETURNED FROM LDAC 26JUL08
-9SEPT2008 Received the BLOCK, used
-9SEPT2008 ALL PARTS ARE AT THE GARAGE.
-15NOV2008 Motor is complete, Personal at garage has been fired major set back
-05DEC2008 I start helping putting the motor in, and the motor starts
-12DEC2008 Slave cyclinder fails
-16DEC2008 Buy new slave cyclinder, and can't bleed clutch

Any idea how much power you were making? I've almost come to a conclusion based on other blown disi motors that the rods are first to go at 350whp.

no clue without the upgraded turbo, turbo manifold, fuel pump, and 19 psi i was at 280 and 300 on a mustang dyno. so your guess is as good as mind

wow crazy that AF was fine and you still blew the engine, ouch.


good luck on the build. I guess we all need to be very safe with this engine huh.

you know... AF works in reverse... higher in number is NOT better. :P

just kidding of course. I am jealous... but you need a bigger turbo now so you can blow this one too.

He was running way to much boost and he was untuned..hmm, i wonder whats going to happen....BOOM! :P Good luck with your build and check your oil constantly!
