Rev Hang

It seems that sometimes under normal acceleration (shifting around 3k) that when shifting from 4th to 5th there is a rev hang. The rpm's stay at 3000 for a second after my foot's off the gas. I guess this is because the distance you have to move the shifter is longer to get to 5th? I'm sure it's not me because I have purposely watched the tach and saw it do it more than once.

Anyone else here notice that while driving?

Re: Rev Hang

more pronouced on the Honda Civicc Si...the "rev hang" is due to the drive by wire throttle system...the "rev hang" is some sort of by product of reduced emmissions federal goverment control standards (sounds like a bad night after a good porno...but...hey) You can thank that damn fool Al Gore and his band of hanging chad clowns for all this geen enviornmental crap...what you have to do to combat rev hang is "rev match" ... ha ... giddy up...

Re: Rev Hang

My shifting is fine. I'm not having a problem because of it.

Just saying that it only seems to happen going from 4th to 5th. That's why I thought it was something other than the drive by wire delay.

Re: Rev Hang

I have noticed the actual 4th-5th change under high acceleration is delayed a little (sometimes) . But like you, I'm having no issues because of it.

Mods so far: Cobb SRI, TWM shifter base bushings

Re: Rev Hang

On the Mustangs, they rid themselves of that problem by putting a different gasket in place of the IAC gasket. The cut a smaller hole in one of the sides and it gets rid of the hang.

Re: Rev Hang

mine does this too ! it is only from 4-5 ...weird. it just seems like the revs fall slower compared to when shifting to other gears.

Re: Rev Hang

I had it bit time in the svt. modified the vacume hose to the intake with a copper cap with a hole and it fixed it.

I'm from the government, and I am here to help you.
