I run Blizzaks on my stock rims from about November 1st to march 1st. I'll check tomorrow to see what model they are. They're worked excellent so far!
+1 on the hot hands and collapsible shovel in the trunk. I live in New England

It says that they are "high quality plastic", so no.... however in my case they're a 20 dollar temporary mud flap to get me through the rest of the winter so nbd. They do come in black, btw. Just checked.

Other than all the other preps mentioned in this thread, its never a bad idea to buy a $1500 4WD beater for the winter or maybe rent one if it snows once a year. Personally got stuck in the mountains today during a blizzard; chains would have been useful.
