I picked up my Mazda5 from dealer today!! Long but detailed post!

I thought that the service Manager and Asst. Manager were going to cry!* ** I got tired of waiting for the recall fix. Two months, plus more time!* But Mazda Corp did not return any of my 4 e-mails to them seeking info on the recall. All I got was lame, nebulous letters. Even their own corporate website, under "Mazda Owners", shows the Mazda5 as not having any recalls! And they think that offering to reset the 4 year warrenty to 12/2005 thru 12/2009 and offering $500.00 makes this major inconvienence OK! I'm still paying for my car, and the insurance, and getting less mileage than my Mz5 (vs. MPV rental car) and paying for more gas than I would have had to pay for my Mz5, (figures to $124.00 in additional gas money!) Taking off work two days to handle recall...think about it...we lost money on this deal! So I drove my car out, and drove off. They tried to get me to sign a waiver that said* something along the lines that "if you get killed when your Mazda bursts into flames, don't say we didn't warn ya!"* * I refused to sign it. I don't personally drive 60 mph in 2nd gear! The service guys told me they had not gotten any more info that we had, and the parts that were supposed to be in the dealerships on the 24th, have not arrived yet. In Canada the M5 guys already have their wheels back, eastern US, too. And the service guys have not received their training in installing this stuff yet! The service guy watered down my car with a hose, to clean off the bird droppings and dust from sitting for two months, made it look really bad then! Nothing washed off, it just got wetter. Mazda really tried, I think, but they are a lot like FEMA, lost when it comes to a "crisis" with their cars, no planning in advance for this kind of thing, makes Mazda look really lame! I get to drive my car till the Mazda Dweebs call me in to do the retrofit...who knows when thats going to be! Christmas!?* * * *Slate

Whoever said parts were supposed be IN on the 24th was mistaken. Parts were SHIPPED the week of the 24th, and were distributed in order of vehicle sale by VIN#. So each vehicle has a specific set of parts being shipped for it.

Well, I got mine back yesterday. It now sports heat shields all the way back, and a new muffler with a chrome tip. No "Don't leave it in manual, stupid!" sticker was installed. Good, I'm glad. While they were at it they did the 5000 mile service for free, rolled the warranty back and did a delivery detailing on it. On the down side, they put a nasty scratch on the rear passenger side door, but buffed it out while I watched. They also neglected to chech the tire pressure before releasing it, and the TPMS light came on that evening, with all four at 28psi. Still, it's good to have it back.
