Got my 5 (back Finally!) -- read last post

Just purchased a 5 a week ago. I literally went in to sign the papers on a 6i when i decided to really give the 5 a good look. Had my wife come down to drive it. After that she didnt even want to look at the 6. She said "this fits us better". "Us" being Mom, Dad, 2.5 year old boy and 9 month old boy. The best part is, i love the 5 too. its great looking, sporty, solid, efficient and versatile. Ive also got a passat wagon ive done some modifications to. Im jealous of my wife! she get to drive the 5 to work and back!
Its nice to see some of the better global ideas of how cars should be and what they need to do coming to america finally.

So, just thought id introduce myself!

Re: Got my 5

Congrats on the new MZ5! Looks nice. I've had mine for more than a month and still love everything about it. Went into the dealer about to pull the trigger on an SP23 MZ3 hatch, but saw the 5s being unloaded. Brought the wife back two days later and that was that. The funniest part of your post for me is that we also have an '01 Passat Wagon (turbo/tip) sitting beside the 5 in the garage. Our 5 is Cardinal and the Passat is Colorado Red, so they almost match even. Congrats again. Welcome aboard, and happy motoring.

I'm not speeding, I'm qualifying

Re: Got my 5

That must say something about both cars. Ive always been a VW guy but we needed something a bit less expensive to maintain. and vw nor anyone else has anything in america that matches the practicality of the 5. it fits our family perfectly.

Re: Got my 5

What a crack-up! We went inside the dealership after deciding on a MPV, paperwork in hand to buy it. Then we strolled by some new Hyundai's in the showroom, and I skidded to a stop, with (I'm sure!) my mouth hanging open. They had just rolled a MZ5 into the show room, and it was literally love at first sight! Then when we opened the brochure and read about it, it was "get the checkbook, dear" to my wife. It was exactly what we were looking for, but up till then didn't know about. I read all of the car magazines, and they slipped this baby past me! After 1 month and 1000 miles, we are still in love with it! Platinum Silver Touring Automatic, added a chrome exhaust tip (really enhances the tail!), tinted all the windows (highly recommend...helps a lot with the weak A/C!) and looks great! Slate

Re: Got my 5

Tinting is definitely first on the list of mods.. it needs it. Not much more i want to do for now. It comes pretty much standard with most of what i would want. I still cant get into the tail lights though. that is one mod i would have left out. Should be interesting to see how the toyos handle the winter here. not long now before our first snow, should be sometime in late oct or early nov.
so far almost 1000 miles and loving the car more everyday.
funny thing, i called it a van the other day and my wife corrected me "its not a van". "oh, im sorry, the 5" i said.

Re: Got my 5

We went looking, started out to see what the 6's were like. Got sidetracked by GM's employee pricing, and remembered we hadn't seen the Mazdas. Got there, they had taken the 5's off the truck 2 hours prior. Worked over the 6's before they even told us about the 5! Same thing happened to us,it was love at first sight. We had seen a Matrix, hated it. Same with the PT Cruiser. Almost bought a Malibu Maxx. Blech!! in comparison! Ended up liking the 5 so much that I came back 2 days later & traded my Sunfire for a 3. Good luck with yours, Cranetech. Congrats to you too, Frank!

Re: Got my 5 (back)

Just picked up the 5 from recall. Its like getting a new car again! Im so glad we didnt buy a MPV. Although we werent really considering one i knew in the back of my mind it was the practical thing to do. Anyway, we got the 5 back now and we are happy. Im not happy about the recall but it isnt going to change my satisfaction with the 5.
So here's hoping you all get your 5's back soon if you havent already!
