Re: How to: Change the Color of your Radio LCD (Pictures)

julieA,

As for the radio LCD, if you get it from the same make model and year as your 2007 it will work with out needing to be reprogrammed, I can't say for sure with newer/older years. Before I started this project I found an entire used radio unit pulled from a burned out vehicle for 34 dollars on ebay, it came with the cdplayer as well as the screen, and I tested the screen on my current radio install. so they are swappable. It is always a good idea to make sure you have a backup before doing something like this. Although 3 years later, I'm still stuck with my extra radio/lcd screen I'm sure one day they will be needed.

Start here

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-...fAudioQ5fVideo

Although I'm not sure if the Bose audio system is different beyond just the speakers, I'm guessing the center console is the same in Bose and non Bose setups, so you would just need to find an entire set to work with your 07. Some of them are a little pricey because they have the six disk cd changer in them but there were a few for the 07 on ebay for 100 or less.

Either way doing ebay searches for OEM radio's is a good place to start looking.

Re: How to: Change the Color of your Radio LCD (Pictures)

i read somewhere that the bose HU is actually different...in terms of setup..and that I would need a bose one. But I was planning on trying the LCD display too, but wasnt sure if taht had to be the same. But if not then may try taht first. and yea, mine is a 6disc, so thats sorta what i have been looking for, and forgot to add I was looking for cheap

Also Rdk, I was looking at superbrightleds for the 3mm LEDS suggested, but was wondering if the min and typical energy rating has to be that? or if anybody else on here has tried a different color also try a different energy rating? mainly cause mine are not close to that at all.

Re: How to: Change the Color of your Radio LCD (Pictures)

I can't say exactly because I don't know the exact cut for the min and typical energy rating in terms of where the led's will just straight burn out, but I do know that I bought green and blue with the typ and min that I posted and they both worked, but before that I ordered some super bright ones that had a much higher typ and min and they wouldn't light at all in testing, let me see if I can find those... * searches through year old records * I couldn't find the typ and min of the super bright LED's I found the package but no info on there

Just aim for a close typ and min and you should be okay, I did buy both blue and green when i was testing so I know there are green LEDS out there that will work for you for sure if you do end up changing out your radio LCD screen.

In what? The LCD screen? They don't use bulbs so there shouldn't be any blowing out, they are LEDs, and they have a very long life so I'm sure there have been a few burn outs here and there but since there are three LEDs on each side all three would have to burn out before anyone really would take notice.
