Weird cold start idle issues

So my 07 3 hatchback has been doing this thing where the idle rpm will go down like it's going to stall but then bounces back up. Then, if I give it some gas while still in park, the rpms go down close to stall and then back to normal. At that point I will have taken my foot off the gas and when I try again everything works normally.

The car is bone stock with 130k miles on it. The battery seems fine-tested off and at idle-and I haven't noticed any other issues. I'm going to replace the plugs and test the coils soon but I have no CEL or anything. Any insight helps!

How reliable are mazda IACs?

Side question: what's the best repair manual for these cars?

Mine did this for years and years. Clean out your throttle body. Super easy fix that I wish someone would have told me. No need to even take the throttle body out completely. Just buy some carb cleaner, have someone step on the gas (with the car off) to open the butterfly in the throttle body. Take a towel and some carb cleaner and scrub all around in the throttle body. Mine was so gunked up at 115k miles, the butterfly valve was stuck open.

Ok, this would have been next on my list but now it's number one, thank you! I thought these cars had the electronic "drive by wire" throttles? Will they open with the car off or can I turn it to accessory and have someone step on the gas?

Yes, they are electronic and you don't need the engine running to control it.

If cleaning throttle doesn't work, I would clean and re lube the purge solenoid located between your battery and engine (Google it).

Did cleaning the throttle body work? I'm having the same issue.plus all my interior and exterior lights are dimming when idling and brightening when accelerating. I have a stick so not only is it trying to stall when stopped it is doing it while in neutral and coasting. I replaced the battery, alternator (last winter), clutch, clutchplate, master cylinder slave cylinder,Oxygen sensors, and spark plugs. Help. Thinking fuel filter/pump but I really hope I am wrong $$$$.
