Sounds like a bunch of haters. BRZ/FRS > Mazda 3

Or just admit that the BRZ/FRS/FT-86 and the Mazdaspeed 3 are different cars. I'm perfectly OK with the BRZ/FRS outhandling us, while we have the edge in straightaway acceleration.

The rear seats look painful as shit to sit in... and get out of.

To my chagrin, there are no steering wheel controls on the car for all trim levels of FR-S and BRZ. This is a huge omission. Ostensibly it was left out because this is intended to be a 'drivers car' but I disagree with that since 99% of these cars will be used as daily commute cars. I love the radio controls on my MZ3. Below is an image of the BRZ stereo. Notice that the lack of physical audio controls. Have fun looking at the screen while driving. Strike three.

Holy crap I never even noticed that!! Where's the cruise controls even??

Cruise control is on the 3rd stalk at the back of the steering wheel. Down about 45 degrees from horizontal on the right side of the steering wheel.

Why isn't that screen at least tilted towards the driver? I feel like the controls on the left would at least hinder the view a little.

As a side note, fuck touchscreen anything in a car.

'Nother sidenote: I'm glad to see the e-brake on the drivers side unlike the 3.

So this "driver's car" has heated seats?

And that cruise control is right out of 10 year old Celica....

I'm still not seeing why I'd pay over 20k for this thing.

Yeah I don't see the car being worth $20k+ anymore. The screen and controls should be directed towards the driver if it was truly a drivers car.

Agreed with the touchscreen thing:

You can't outlaw texting and miscellaneous phone operations, and put a touchscreen control unit in a car. Cadillac ATS, I'm talking to you.

Those Cadillac ATS DUDE-BRO commercials are lame. OMG brah, we're out in the mountains. Our ATS is tuff as shit and can drive over paved mountain passes. No way brah! So could my 1990 corolla.

As an ex-owner of 1st gen mazda3 manual, having sentiment towards that car, I was debating between buying the speed3 and brz. Went with 6speed brz limited, mainly because i wanted a coupe and rwd. Therefore comparing those two cars is like apples to oranges. Seats are narrow in brz, but fit me well personally, and are comfortable. Seats in speed on the other hand and too short. It was the same dislike for me in the first gen, causing legs to tires really easily on the longer drives. Speed has a lot of power for a fwd, so torque steer is not my cup of tea. That's one of the reasons, why i switched from younger mazda 3 to lexus is300 couple years ago. I'd love to see the awd version of speed3 or even Rwd, now when RX8 is gone. For me, it's way more fun to take a sharp corner in the great handling car, than a straight line speed, but i know people that think otherwise.
