I need to clean my engine bay, bad. Never done it before. Besides covering my intake filter, are there other areas I should avoid getting wet?

Avoid areas with electrical connections.

what i recommend is get a slight degreaser and some brushes or all purpose cleaner.. spray it down and scrub it. mist off with a hose if you have that option. stay away from coilpack/injectors MAF and alt.

I never cover anything and just spray lightly around the alternator and I only use high pressure around non electrical items. follow up with some CD2 engine detailer and it looks like new.
