Looking to get 14" or 15" rims to run in the winter. What is the tire size conversion for both? i'm running 205/55/16 right now

pretty sure 16 is as small as you can go to clear the caliper.
anyone else?

yeah, 16 is the smallest.
2.0 sedans MAY be able to fit a 15 but the thought scares me. a Speed 3 can fit a 16, but dangerously. |

The hatchback is available with the 2.0L here in Canada. If the GX hatch uses the same brakes as the 2.0L sedan then you should be able to use 15" wheels. Maybe someone at the dealer parts/service dept would know for sure?
You are not going to get 14" wheels to fit - even the "small" brakes on the 2.0L sedan are too big for that. |

looks like you have the 'sport' hatch, if that's the same as the US (larger brakes) then 16" is the minimum. even those look scary close to the calipers.

+1, pretty sure that some of the first gen 2.0 sedans came with 15" steelies, but you will never get a 14".

Scary....
One guy I came across on here was running 16s on a speed 3 over winter and he said the calipers were so close it knocked off the balance weights that were on the wheel. Just get 16s, don't be stupid and dangerous. Surely someone will sell you 2.0 16s for a lot cheaper you can get some 15s and will be better as far as weight and looks, just saying. |

I haven't tried it yet, but a cheap way to go would be to get a set of 16" wheels from a Ford Probe or Mazda MS6. They have the same bolt pattern (5x114.3) as does the Mazda3. I'm not certain if the wheels will fit, though. I'm going to research this some since I have access to a Probe, but won't know the answer till probably next weekend at the earliest.
