Default 2008 Mazdaspeed3 Headlight question

due to idiot drivers in the rain, my driverside headlight was crushed . Now my problem is the dealer wants $460 for a new headlight, and when i look online i see headlights everywhere for the sedan models but nothing for MS3 hatchback, are they interchangable? with little to no modification or if they are not does anyone know where i can get a MS3 headlight that wont kill my wallet, ebay has a ton but all for sedan, even tho they say compatibitle with mazdaspeed 3, the seller told me only mazdaspeed3 sedan(dumba$$ they dont have mazdaspeed3 sedans)

thanks
chris

MZ3 Hatch and MS3 use the same headlights.

There are headlights sold on this forum left and right. Look around.

ASK whether or not that headlight is for halogen or OEM HID.

The back end of them are different, along with the projectors.

Sedan and hatch/MS3 headlights aren't compatible. Technically there are different p/n's for the regular Mz3 hatch and the MS3 but they work interchangeably.

If they quoted $460 then you must have halogens as the OEM HID housing is $800+ new from the dealer. To confirm look at the switch panel to the left of the steering wheel. You should have a dimmer dial, a TCS OFF switch. If that's all you have then you have halogen housings. If you have an additional dial that toggles between 0-4 then you have HIDs..

I'm on the same boat as the OP. Though I have condensation in the driver's side headlight (they are modded).

I have an 09 MS3 Sport with no OEM HID. I saw some deals on eBay for the OEM HID assembly with no bulbs/ballasts for a decent price. Can I just bolt these in or do they require modification since it has the OEM HID parts on them? I already have an aftermarket HID set-up but they are not D2S (mine are H7).

The housing itself will bolt right on in place of the halogen one. The projector is designed for a D2S lamp, so you'll need to get D2S lamps to plug into your ballasts. If the headlights come with the leveling motors you can retrofit the wiring to hook those up (obviously you'd need the leveling switch as well).

If you're doing this I'd highly recommend swapping in a clear lens to clean up the cutoff before installation. Also if you want the color flicker you can add washers at the same time.
