Will replacing one front tire on a MS3 be bad for the car?

I hit a pothole and the front right wheel and tire (12k miles) are being replaced on my 2009 MS3. I don't know yet what the shop is doing about rotation etc but likely they'll just take the old one off and put a new one on. I'm thinking the difference in circumference on the two front tires might cause the LSD some issues, does anyone have any experience or advice on what I should ask the shop to do.

My thought is rotate front to back and put the new tire on the rear axle?

otherwise it is not gonna do any bad

In the end I had the rears moved to the front and the remaining front moved to the rear alongside the new one, so the mismatch is on the rear axle. The front tires were getting quite worn, I'm a little disappointed they've worn so much (<12k miles so far, oh and a day of auto-x probably didn't help either!) I guess that's the price you pay for the grip.
