Default best snow tires for 2010 mazda 3?

Hi guys. Just got my new car and i am loving it, the bridgestone turanza's which came with the car are great but i heard that these are pretty useless in snow and have no grip.I am in toronto, canada and our winters get pretty severe. Can anybody recommend a good snow tire for a 205/55/r16 tire. I have heard good things about nokian Hakka r's and blizzak ws-60. what brand would you recommend. price is important but snow preformance and traction are important

Really any winter tire will be acceptable, read some of the reviews on tirerack and discounttire and base your decision on that.

I've heard great things about Blizzaks as well, but I didn't want to spend that much on tires. I just purchased General Altimax Arctic tires (without studs) and can't wait to give them a try this winter. They got great reviews on TireRack:

I have Gislaved NordFrost5s and they are excellent in snow, slush, ice, etc. If you get up to the Collingwood area you know what road conditions can be like here, especially on top of Blue Mountain. I had no problems this past winter, even driving 30 km to and from work through 4-6 inches of un-plowed slop.

Mother has Blizzak WS50s on her Civic. They are also very good, especially considering they are 6 or 7 years old now. I am sure the newer WS60 is even better.

A few people I work with have the Canadian Tire Goodyear Nordics and are quite pleased with them.

Gislaved's are nice, as are the Hakka's, Blizzaks and Michelin X-Ice.

However, good luck finding anything now, bit early in the season. Around October the stores will start getting stock.

Thanks for the info on the General Atlimax artic.I did a little research and it seems that Continental owns General and Gislaved. So the altimax is a rebadged Gislaved Nordfrost 3 for the north american market. They use the same tread design. And the price is 90 dollars cheaper than the Blizzaks which will fit my budget. A tire dealer said that inquiring early about snow tires is good idea because last year Canadian tire dealers sold out of winter tires early becuase of the manadatory law requirement of snow tires in Quebec for winter.
