aluminum roof...degrades integrity of the frame... too heavy... if you do install one, look at the r32's sunroof. has the bar across it.
that was going to be my "dealbreaker" when i was trading in the m3 for the speed3. it had to have a sunroof. oh well, i ditched the sunroof and took the speed3 anyway ![]() i was also told at the mazda dealership "a true sports car does not have a sunroof" wtf?! ummm... r32, sti, Si, etc. etc. etc. all have sunroofs [sunrooves? ha] well, i know someone is going to correct me. i said it in my own "layman's version" lolz

Yeah 2 dealers told us they won't install an aftermarket sunroof because of rigidity. It would be a nice feature...but such is life.

That was one of the few things I wanted but I can deal without it. I'd rather have my turbo than a sunroof.
Also, sorry to threadjack but cosmicsp33d3, I noticed your sig. I hate to bring bad news but if you're in the US don't expect to get that RS. Ford axed it coming to the US with new model year. It was posted on focaljet. |

Subaru fed us the same BS about structure for years.
The 02-03 WRX couldn't have a sunroof because it would weaken the car. Then suddenly in 04 they introduced the WRX limited with leather seats and a sunroof. No sunroof in the STi, structure again. Then what happens in 2006? STi limited with sunroof and leather seats. If the customers demand it, they will do it. I really want one, but I know many purists that don't want the weight, so just make it an option. |

Last time I saw a TRUE SPORT CAR (the one that really uses rigidity) had a cage inside, no seats, and the car itself was all made out of fiber (with the exception of the "skeleton" of course).
So, too much of BS, too little of pleasing customers. All the BMW has the capacity to apply a lot more torsion on the car structure than the MS3 and you still see sunroof's and tons other things you don't see on the MS3. So I CALL BS! |

Yes I wanna a sunroof for my car too, that's cool! And really I enjoy this kind of feeling. But seems this change is impossible
The only way is to change a car.
