My car threw a cel and this is what came up on the diagnostic "EVAP Emissions Control System Purge Flow Fault P0441".
My question is, what should my next step be? Is this a DIY?

check your gas cap, make sure its on tight.
reset the ECU and now you should be good to go.

No problem man....its happened to me twice. One time I was pumping the gas and the other time my fiancee was.
Scared the hell out of me, cause when I ran the code at Autozone they were telling me something seriously might be wrong with an emission related item. Then when I looked it to it....it was just the gas cap...LOL.

If the gas cap isn't the fix, there's a chance you may need a new Purge Valve.
This has happened to me 4 times, 3 times I got new purge valves, the 4th time they said they were on backorder and they just got rid of the CEL. What would happen is I'd throw a CEL. I'd get it reset, re-tighten gas cap. In an hour or less the CEL would come back AFTER IT WAS RESET. This means I had something faulty and the dealer offered to fix it under warranty. I'm pretty sure the fix is easy and it's replacing the purge valve assy which is not that much more than $80. So yeah it can be a DIY thing as long as you have a shop manual to help you. |

[/quote] Appreciate that info too. I will have to go get the cel reset, maybe autozone can do that, Ill check. No shop manual here tho. I will need to pick one up, or hopefully someone on here can give me some help if it comes to that. Thanks again.

IF you don't want to make a trip to Autozone to have them clear it....then just disconnect the battery. Pump the brake a few times, wait 5 min, then reconnect the battery.

I wonder if disconnecting the battery will mess with my avic d3's learned memory. But that is a good trick that i was completely unaware of.

After tightening the gas cap and driving for two days, the engine light is no longer on. It must have reset itself.
