Switch to synthetic fluid? It's probably time for a change anyway.

You could try changing fluids but I don't think it will help that much. All manual transmissions will be somewhat stiff and hard to shift in the cold weather. My advice would be to just get used to it, let the car warm up a bit longer, and run through the gears a few times before actually starting off.

It's normal, especially now that temperatures have dropped. For example, I left my car outside for a few days and had to move it in 25 degree weather. It was like shifting through syrup until it warmed up.

Vermont's a little farther north than Pennslyvania, so of course it's going to be colder up there.

it's been 40 degrees here every morn the past 3 days... the gearbox is slightly sticky until warm/// consider yourself lucky that you don't drive older cars ... get used to it... amsoil syn oil will help slightly

for really cold climates your best bet would be a 50/50 mix of Redline MT-90 and Redline MTL. This gives you a slightly thinner weight around 75w-85 or so. There are some people on bobistheoilguy forums that run this in their MS3 and say it is awesome. Or if you want you can also run straight MT-90 which is 75w-90 which is what the specs call for for our cars. I am running straight MT-90 in mine and it shifts much better in the cold than the stock fluid ever did but if you are in a really cold climate you might want to do the 50/50 mix as the thinner the fluid the better the synchros work especially in the cold.
