Alright, I started this post http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=84746.0 explaining the problem i have been having with my transmission. I am at work, and do not have a lot of time to sit here and type up a big pretty topic head like what was done for the motor mount, so if someone else has the time and wants to do it, go right ahead. However, i will start a list here of all the other people with the same problem. I will be causing a fuss with Mazda over this issue, so with luck, my car will get fixed, and other people will benefit from my work (which is good, since i've used M3F in my battles with the dealer before, i'm just giving back...)
***In your post, be sure to include details such as when you are having the problem, what RPM you are shifting at, and what mods you have done to the car*** Anyhoo, here is the list that i know of so far. Well, I was holding off until I had the mount recall work done and the transmission fluid changed. I was hoping one or both of those would take care of the rough shifting, but neither did.
The dealer replaced the mount, rubber gasket, and the bolt, and I also had them change the tranny fluid to Redline MT90, which I brought in. The shifting feels the same. I occasionally will get perfectly smooth shifts, but usually it's a bit rough.

Mine did as well before the STS, so you could add me to the list :? [/quote] So your custom STS resolved the issue for you? I have the shifter bushings as well. If I have time this weekend I'm gonna take the console cover off to get at the shifter base bolts to see if anything can be done to re-align, tighten, etc. There is another possibility, which is that the dealer tech ripped off my MT90 and put in some bulk crap they have, but I'd like to give those guys the benefit of the doubt.

No issues here and I stomp on it all the time. Tranny hasn't felt any different for the last 17k miles. When I get sloppy (very rarely)is when I might get a slight grind or two but it's all me. Are any of you guys in Miami or in the S.FL erea? I'll gladly meet up to compare cars. I really would like to experience this problem first hand.

i had the same problem in the past... but only when powershifting.
with a good lower engine mount it all went away. you engine flops around like crazy with the sloppy stock mount. that makes it hard for the linkage to line up and go in gear properly. hold it all still with a nice solid mount and it is smooth as glass.

I have the Corksport inserts. Might give your custom mount a try at some point after they get the production going.

I don't get actual grinding but my transmission makes a clunking noise when I shift that is so loud you can hear it over the engine, music etc. And it seems to require way too much effort to get it in gear, especially the 3 - 4 shift which should be the easiest. Anyway it bugs the hell out of me and it's ruining the car. Please add me to the list.
