The changed the front pads, added the shimmer and replaced the bolts on the caliper. It still squeaks for the first 5 times of braking when the car is cold. This is after after almost 500km on the new pads so I consider them fully broken in.
Is this normal? Maybe it's the back that's squeaking? Although I don't remember there was a TSB about that.

Did they turn the rotors?
If so, I think it's normal and that the pads are seating themselves into the rotors.

Had my 05 3 back to dealer and complained about either brake squeek or grinding noise, for the first few brakes especially when weather is cold or damp.
Got their normal reply NORMAL FOR THE MAZDA 3....it seems everything I complain to this Dealer comes back as being normal for the Mazda 3. They tell me it is because of a slight build up of rust on brake pads/rotors. It is this scraping of rust that has formed, that you hear. After repeated braking the rust is removed and noise goes away. Sometimes, you swear there is Metal to Metal contact going by the grinding sound you get sometimes. There were several TSB"s regarding brakes on the 04 models though. |

phattires, that's exactly what i've been noticing on my M3 too. If you drive in the rain and then leave the car in a dry garage overnight, you'll get a light coat of rust on the rotors. First couple of brakings squeak as you grind off the rust and get back down to clear metal. After that it's good.
Here in Vancouver I can expect mine to be like this 8 months out of the year, probably.

no, the rears have burrs sticking out which causes the squeaking. so they grind the burrs down or something to that effect

So should I just accept this as normal when it squeaks for the first 5 times after the car's been sitting for a few hours?
I mean it's more of a annoyance issue than a functional defect. i don't want to start war with my dealership over something this small.
