Is Mazda's "ATF M-V" the exact same as Mercon V?

After looking through the owner's manual the spec for the ATF is "ATF M-V".

Does this mean Mercon V, or does it actually mean "ATF M-V" ?

What a retarded name for a specification if they do not actually mean "Mercon V"!

By the way, does anyone know much would this genuine "ATF M-V" cost from a Mazda dealer?

The confusing part about it (for me at least) is that I don't think the "ATF M-V" stands for Mercon V, per se, though the ATF M-V is likely just the mazda spec equivalent of Mercon V.

I say this because the old Mazda owners' manuals used to specify the "ATF M-III" spec (I think) which was supposed to be equivalent to Dexron/Mercon--BUT "ATF M-III" did NOT actually stand for Mercon III (which was never produced), it just stood for ATF M-III.

I know I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing, but I just hate it when people/companies/anyone unnecesarily complicate things that should be simple.
