Microtech install is started...
« on: August 04, 2006, 11:14:57 PM »
Just to fan the flames of interest, I started my Microtech install. I hope to crank her up sat or sunday depending on weather and unforseen problems (do you think there be any?  ) Check back for pics and such....

I'm stopping by when you get it installed and working. Have you dyno'd your car yet? You should probably do that first so you know how much of a change you get with your mods.

Dude, I'm flying by the seat of my pants, no dyno has been done. Overall, the install is really easy, just cut and soldering wires. I'm taking my time and cleaning up my buddy club cabling as I go and trying to make this as clean as possible. I also have an email to steve on some wire color question.

Well, I couldn't finish up the install. Rained off and on Saturday. Woke up Sunday sick as dog, so I pulled it out and went stock. I'll look at it as a pratice run. Return to stock only took me about an hour. I'll try again this weekend.

would be cool if you got a base dyno before the tuning. but that gets expensive so do what you can on the install. =)

Yeah, I know a base would be helpfull. I don't see it happening though. Time constraints, family, work etc...

Either way if he does a dyno following the install the gains should be significantly more compared to what people like beansoldier have gotten with similar mods. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

I'm interested to see if the low end poer improves, this should boost the power through the powerband. Since this controls ingnitions firing and fuel pressure, the gains should be felt almost immediately.

The Microtech works better than some timing ignition controllers for 4 cyl engines because it replaces the entire ECU and operates off its own maps and doesn't rely on stock ecu programming at all. Consider it a new brain for the car.

BeefCake, good luck with the install, it shouldn't be too far from plug and play. Some people are a little fired up here I see lol.
What's the use of happiness? It can't buy you money.

I know a few good spots in South Florida, if you live down here
