  • Zangief outta nowhere!
Well, after waiting for over a week for my exhaust from CVR (this is in no way a knock against them as it wasnt their fault the exhaust was taking forever) i canceled my order monday morning of this week. i got in contact w/ Sam over at crossoverperformance and explained my situation. he had the exhaust IN STOCK ready to ship that day.  i paid 7 dollars less too  8).  i received a tracking number MONDAY NIGHT and tuesday had my exhaust.  it came from texas to illinois. THATS what i call customer service so BIG THANKS goes out to Sam and i recommend him to anyone on the board.  anyway, getting to what you all want to hear. i was originally going to throw the exhaust on last night but since my garage is void of any useful tools (most importantly a sawzall) i was planning on going to a buddys house to put the exhaust on.  well, that fell thru so i was faced w/ a decision. do i wait until later in the week to put it on or do i just drop it off at carx by my work and let them do it. i left it w/ carx this morning and 50 bucks later the exhaust is on...not quite the do it youself job like i wanted, but oh well

inital impressions
i drove the car for a total of maybe 3 minutes? from carx back to my office.  the smile from ear to ear has yet to leave my face. the exhaust tone is nothing short of perfection.  i was scared it would sound a bit ricey and hondaish (even after hearing all the good things on the board) but to my surprise its just a tone all its own.  i guess the closest thing i can compare it to is maybe a srt4.  i couldnt really tell if there was a butt dyno gain but i didnt have a chance to get on it.  the car is almost stocklike at idle and has a nice hum to it while light on the throttle. i blipped it once switching lanes and it just sounds fantastic

after work i will take a some vids for you guys (startup, idle, cruising in cabin, wot in cabin, wot outside, etc etc) so that theres just that many more vids floating around.  as a side note, the fit and finish of this thing is top notch. the whole thing is nice and polished and looks fantastic. the tip fits the rear bumper perfectly...what can i say, i'm in love with it so far and ive only driven for 3 mintues.  i'll post up vids and pics later today (assuming it doesnt rain)

some pics for you...

and now we start updating w/ vids...

vid #1: startup w/ a little idle and some revs...i realize after that the camera was a bit too close to the exhaust so its muffled a bit but my batteries were almost dead for this vid so i have to let them charge before i can take any more videos...plus, its now traffic time in IL so any other vids will wait...

vid#2 fly by...self explantory

vid#3 drive away ( was lazy shifting so that u can hear the exhaust between shifts) *NEW*

congrats and glad to hear you like it :goodjob: .  It will tone down a little bit in a little over a week, but will still sound nice and aggressive.

Wish mine was still new stainless color  :(  and it fit well without having to hack it up, but I still smile when I get on the gas.  What year is your car and what is it (pzev or ulev)??

Is there a way to clean the exhaust to make it look like new? My vibrant exhaust tip looks like crap. Its yellowish with some stains at the tip. I assume everyone eventually has this problem. Anyone know of a way to clean this?

Is VIbrant a cat back with high flow cat  or full exhaust?
Where is the good online place to buy it?
Does the a off road pipe or high flow car cause the CEL to come on?

I'm liking it, I checked out the video clip @ crossoverauto.com and I'm really impressed. The only thing I'm concerned about is I don't want a "watermelon shooter" exhaust coming out the back, I know that's exagerating a bit, but I don't want it to be much bigger looking then the stock exhaust tip. How wide is the Vibrant tip? Thanks for your help!

I also like the vibrant clips, so no one is having any problems with cels with the hi flow cat?  It would be interesting if someone that already has it could do a post on the mpg difference from stock. :)

Crazy,

Great post and clips! Sounds awesome! Nice M3H by the way. Way to represent!

mica3speedy mentioned "It will tone down a little bit in a little over a week, but will still sound nice and aggressive."
Have you noticed any change? Does it still sound as good?

Anyone planning to get dyno'd? jj?

due to lack of tools in my garage i had carx put it on for me while i waited. i watched as well. easy as hell, seriously. as for the exhaust toning down i have noticed this week that at cruising its much more mellow and tame now but has a wicked growl to it under light load and the gurgle/pop it makes when letting off in 3rd is great.  as for dynos, i have no plans to dyno the car ever actually, haha...not unless i go turbo but i'm pretty sure my forced induction days are over. and i will once again give crossover props for their amazing customer service  8)

Thanks for the quick replies Crazy and JJ.

Now that I've heard it, I feel like I have to have it, darn it!

I was going to wait for after 5000 miles before I started changing things to mke sure I had a good reliable runner first (only 800 mi right now). I was thinking that if I had any problems before the 5K service, it would be better to have it bone stock...now I'm not sure I can wait....should I?

How old is yours? When I am going through a drive through or just advancing for a few feet in first gear the exhaust kind of sounds like thin sheet metal in the wind when letting of the gas, did you ever have that?
