F2 S/C Thread (Updated 01-20-10, Details on OP)
« on: July 07, 2009, 05:19:19 PM »
The Supercharger kits are currently having issues with shipping. The kits are not for sale yet, still fine tuning a little to get it perfect for you guys!

Stage 2 has not been released yet, a few things to finish on. The SC kit have only been tested on the 2.3l, 2.0 and auto models is currently in the testing stages. The 2.5l will be worked on after stage1 and stage2 are done for the 2.0 and 2.3l models.

FAQ
1. I'm a noob, should I post questions
Please look through the Original Post(OP) before asking any questions. Most of the time your question will be answered by this post and if you still have a question then ask away :)

2. Will it come with a tuning solution.
Tuning for stage1 is controlled by Kraftwerks Power card, Stage2 and on will be controlled by either the CP-e SB or XFC.

3. Can I use my aftermarket intake?
No, the SC comes with its own intake.

4. Will the F2 SC kit be carb approved?
F2 has submitted the papers for CARB for the stage1 and is currently CARB pending. Stage2 and up will not be CARB certified.

5. Is stronger aftermarket engine mounts recommend?
Yes, at the very least you should change out the lower rear mount as it will help get the power to the ground.

6. I already have the CP-e SB or another tuning solution, will it work with the SC?
If you already have standback, F2 can provide you with a stage 2 kit, and you can tune it, or pay extra for the F2 tune for standback.

7. What spark plugs are required for the F2 SC kit?
The supercharger kit comes with colder iridium plugs that are pregapped. just thread them in.

8. What octane is required?
The F2 SC kit will be tuned with 91 octane, so at the very least 91 octane is required

9. What mods are recommended for the manual?
F2 recommends a new/stronger clutch. Gears are not required.

10. What mods do I need for the ATX?
ATX owners, expect to add a external trans cooler, and valve body mods to increase line pressure. F2 will not be altering anything atx related. We will make the power, if your trans breaks on stage 2, that's on you. Stage 1 s/c kit for the atx people will be within the power levels that the rest of the powertrain can handle, including the transmission.

11. What tools are required to install the kit?
If you have a wrench set between 10-19 mm, you can install our Supercharger kit.

12. What kind of maintenance is involved with the F2 SC kit.
Your usual stock maintenance plus the Rotrex supercharger has a scheduled oil change every 40-50K miles using a specially formulated oil made for the Rotrex superchargers.

13. Is Stage 1 safe for my stock engine?
Yes, as long as nothing is added or removed from the kit and 91 octane is used you will be fine for many miles. Please keep your routine oil changes and the supercharger maintanance and you will enjoy your vehicle for a long time. Take care of your car and it will take care of you.

14. Is Stage 2 safe for my stock engine?
Yes, again same with stage 1 take care of your car and it will take care of you. Do not try to remove or add anything without adjusting the tune and you will be fine. Also do not push the engine beyond its limit.

15. What are the terms of warranty for the supercharger?  How does a header, exhaust, and/or intake manifold affect the warranty of the Stage 1 kit?
Stage 1 kit will allow for an exhaust upgrade, no header or intake manifold should be added with out a piggy back ECU to add more fuel to the car. The warranty for the supercharger will not be void but if you add any other parts you might just blow your engine. adding parts to ths stage 1 kit will be at your own risk.

16. What are the terms of warranty for the supercharger?  How does a header, exhaust, and/or intake manifold affect the warranty of the Stage 2+ kit?
The stage 2 kit will also not void any warranty, with the stage 2 kit you can add any parts you desire but please make sure you get the car tuned correctly. Either by our support or someones else that knows.

17. Is Stage 1 safe for my transmission (list automatic and manual differences in power handling)?
Stage 1 is safe for all transmissions and even the stock clutch, but you must take care of your car. If you like to burn rubber a lot then no your parts will not last. Do not power-shift or abuse the drivetrain.

18. Is Stage 2 safe for my transmission (list automatic and manual differences in power handling)?
Stage 2 will require a new clutch for the MTX, if you have an atx at this point we cannot recommend stage 2 for the ATX.

19. When will the Stage 1 & 2 kits be available for the 2.0?
At this point we are looking at getting a 2.0L in the next week or two and start the testing on it...our plan is for it to be a 2.0L ATX and we will also work with CPE to make the standback available on the 2.0L. Expect the 2.0L to be ready Mid February...

20. What is included in the Stage 2 kit? Stage 2 will come with larger injectors, intercooler, tuning with CP-e standback 2, and no restrictor. Pulley changes may be an option, but let us finish testing stage 2 until we will know for sure.

No freebies,

But I need a 2.0 to try the kit out on.

The car needs to be all stock, no exhaust or nothing and close to southern cali.

2.0 can be auto or stick, pzev or not.

Someone who does alot of communting would be ideal, but more so clearence testing and fitment on a 2.0

There is no hacking done on this kit. And no wiring either. Completely reversible, within a couple of hours.

Car could be returned to stock in under 3 hours.....

PM me for inquries.

*edit* The above post can remain

Quote from Randy...

Piping is complete. Pics to follow later......maybe

Fuel Controller has been delayed. Vehicle in question is ready to be tuned, but will not be completed until after Labor day.

Follow closely, first drive videos will follow after dyno tuning.

Also, you cant call Kraftwerks looking for a supercharger kit for the Mazda3, F2 is making the kit, not Kraftwerks........for those who called and asked.

I have a 2.0 stick 2008
I also have a CAI but i dont mind switching it, if necessary, for the for the stock intake if you still need a test car. Other than that though my car (performance-wise) is completely stock.

In the supercharger I am not sure yet as I am talking to Rotrex and Kraftwerks on the parts I have to buy from them...we are making the tubing, bracket for the supercharger.

My estimate so far based on costs that I got so far...$3600-$3700, but remember this kit will also be CARB legal...

somewhere between 6-9 psi, but my question is that will you need any type of retarding of timing to control and prevent detonation under certain conditions while you are running the supercharger at full boost, or will the ECU be able to control its own ignition and prevent detonation on its own? because i know our cars are ok as far as ignition for FI for up to 14 psi, per dee at reactive. but superchargers have their differences, which is why i was asking about ignition control

This kit is going to be sold at 5psi with a fuel tuning solution made for this kit exclusively. There should be no problems or need for timing control.

PSI is not what we are concerned with, on the kit.

I could have 4 psi make more power than 10 psi.

The beauty of the kit, is the lack of heat that will be thrown into the engine. The supercharger is far more efficient then the turbos we have used in the past.

Look up efficiency of the rotrex c-30/74 and compare to a garret turbo. The rotrex doesnt heat the air up until you start moving alot of air, like 15-20 psi.

So stay tuned.....

But I still need a 2.0 pzev or non pzev to try the kit out on...

Oh yes I forgot that the air is not pre heated like the turbo air is.....denser air = more HP.

BTW if you are all un-aware the above poster is F2's mechanic and tuner. He is a wealth of knowledge on the Mazda platforms.

so what is it puttin down?

Some sort of F2 gang sign last I checked.

The numbers are not going to be posted until the final tune is done next week. What can be said is the first tune looks like it put down some really really impressive numbers that will surprise some people!

It is more expensive than the turbo by a good amount but this is including the tuning solution correct?

It is worth it because by the sound of it I can install this by myself and use the "tuning solution" that is so secretive. As with the turbo I had to save more money for the 1k install and tune up at chicago..

It really evens out.
I hate you all I was gonna go to sleep, but now my mind is just gonna be thinking about this all night...

Here are some details...the Supercharger will be more than a turbo. but the supercharger will be CARB legal, that matters to some and not to others. But it does mean no tickets for a modified car.

The tuning solution is a proprietary solution that Kraftwerks uses. The installation will be real easy and should take no more than 3-4 hours. The hard part will be to prep the supercharger as that is the most important part otherwise you will be purchasing a new supercharger...

This Saturday is what I hope one more trip that we can nail this setup down...we need to try a new belt and a new pulley (smaller diameter) and then we are testing two more 2.3L cars and we need some 2.0L cars to test as well.

Anyone know anyone with a Mazda 5?
We already have a Mazda 6 that we are testing as well....

In testing fuel economy numbers on the supercharger test car,

It handed a BMW 328i newest model year, it's ass from a stop light, 0-80 mph it took the car by four lengths. The law student didnt even know what hit him.

then it proceeded to get better than stock fuel economy.......

4mpgs over stock.

and youngun,

Your car dropped the camera, not me. I was trying to use my right foot as traction control.
