Weekly Jacksonvile, FL meet thread
« on: January 11, 2009, 08:48:39 PM »
I figured I would go ahead and post the thread to get it started. Weekly meets are a cool idea. I am all for it.

I live in the Oceanway area, but a 30 minute drive is a standard thing for me back in Gainesville to meet up for sushi and bs. I cannot do meets on Mondays or Tuesdays, others are better.

Post up thoughts, etc.

PM me if you need my phone#. IM info is posted for me. to the left of this post...

Hey eric,  Jimmy and I were taking today about this, and thrusday night around 8 or 9pm at buffalo's cafe on youngerman circle off blanding and 295, would be great they dont mind the whole car thing and have a varitey of food and drinks and they are open really later and very rarely are they ever busy.

I'm all for Thursday nights.  I think Buffalo's would be good.  Right off the interestate and if need be a good amount of space for parking.

Thursdays sound good.
I think they still have Bike night on Wednesday nights so Thursday would be better.

oh Eric now that you are here although we do live on the northern side of town we dont refer to this as the northside so arbitrarily... if you watch the news (i dont recommend it) the NORTHSIDE to ppl in Jacksonville is everything north of downtown to trout river bridge area and where majority of shootings and stuff happens...so we call our neighbor hood Oceanway which is what it is (but is also stereotyped for the redneck population that so proudly resides here) or airport...just say i live up by the airport then the only thing ppl have to say is WOW thats so far away even tho every morning i make it from here to orange park in 15(personal best) to 25 minutes....lol for real tho you say n.side to ppl and they are amazed you havent been mugged on way to work..lol
anyways weekly meets are cool idea but maybe we can spread it around too cause blanding and 295 is quite the drive for ppl by the beach or intercoastal area etc...like for example new shopping center by the airport...off of 95 on airport rd. has a Boston pizza and bar open and serves food to 2am so its not like they would be closing early on us or anything.. and ms6 owner buddy of mine owns pizza place off of new berlin up by eric and i that has awesome pizza and big parking lot..
just some ideas....

Hey guys, sorry for the late response. I just got back from Daytona. Stayed down and chilled with a few of the members. Buffalo's at 9pm on Wed or Thurs sounds like a great idea. I get off of work at 8pm so that would give me plenty time to go out to the meet. I also like your idea about a monthly meeting calender Chuck. I'll def. keep up with this thread since we REALLY gotta get some Jax. meets goin on and pull people out of their holes, lol.

Wednesday night at buffalo's is really bad sence they have bike night on that night, I would say thursday night is the best, and 8pm or 8:30pm start time would give most people time to get ready and show up.  if we wanted to start it this week a few guys and I are down with that.

We will definatly be planning some gainesville raceway days in the near future,  now as far as putting together a monthly meet calender around town, give me some ideas for places to meet on thursday nights,  Please give address, and websites to the places (if applicable), that way we can get the montly meets planned out ASAP. Thanks for all your help.   the thursday 22nd of january is scheduled for the St Johns town center parking lot, in front of the target/ashley home furnature store.  lots of places to eat and or drink there.

Yeah that ale House parking lot meet is pretty ricey, and ghetto at times.  I think Im basically putting my car on display to get followed home and stolen!  Anyway, it would be cool to show up one day with a bunch of us and kinda take over!

We may also want to try the shopping center up off of Airport Rd and 95 were the Walmart is.  I don't know what resturants are around there to eat and drink.

Hey Chuck, I have no problem meeting on basically any day of the week but I want to make sure this meet works for the majority of the people in the North region. With that being said, I'd like to ask that if we have the meet on a Wednesday night, would that actually pose a problem for any of you?  If you have Church on those nights or have to work or what not, please say so because if not, I wouldn't see why we couldn't do these meets on Wednesday so that 1mpg can participate.

Yeah, ,8:30 is kind of late, the Gainesville peeps would meet up at 5:30 at places. I will probably have eaten dinner by the time we meet up, but will still come out. Plus, I am a big guy, so I can have a 2nd dinner.

I will be going to the Thursday meet though!

Hey Semo, no you dont need to take any course to do the drag strip.  Just wear the correct attire (long pants, shirt with sleeves, shoes).
