that's whats up!. So does it do something (reduce glare) or its just for the looks. I'd get it either way but it'd be nice to see it doing something other than looking pretty.

It does reduce glare a little bit from what I have noticed. It has similar optical properties to Window Tint but is designed for outside use where tint would fail quickly.

OK. The film is here and the verdict is in...

PERFECTION!!!

I'll have pictures for you guys tomorrow, most likely. This film (called LDBPP Film) is much thinner than the traditional lamin-x and doesn't defract the image like the thicker lamin-x does.

Basically, its looking like the kit will come with 2 squares and a razor blade. The install is done similarly to traditional lamin-x in that you remove the backing, spray it down with a little bit of water, place it on the mirror and position it, then squeegee out the water with a driver's license to activate the glue. The razor blade will be included to trim the film to size around the mirror (help with ease of installation and keeping cost down)

The best news is that its going to come in at about $10 shipped. Available in a few days.

Matt

SICK!!! I want if it comes in blue!!!!! :)

Here's a picture IMMEDIATELY after install. The bubbles go away in 1-2 days as the water evaporates.

Here's a picture this morning on the mirror of my bike.

I've already gotten a few comments on it, all good.

Watch out for the GB in less than 24 hours.

I have been thinking about this for a while.  My buddy has a bimmer and he has this on his mirrors and it looks purrty nice.  I think it does reduce glare a bit and I noticed that it makes all cars headlights look like they are xenons.  Not the brightness of xenons but just the hue of xenons.

Hey Matt (or anyone else for that matter).. Is it possible to take the actual mirror out of the side view mirror 'housing'?  If so, how?  Also, I have heated mirrors, will this affect how I have to take the mirrors out of the housing?

Thanks in advance!

GB is up. Check the GB section

JB - Its possible, but not really needed. There's enough room to make it fairly easy on the mirrors. My bike mirrors were a little closer.

Take a look at my heated mirror install walkthrough for instructions on removing the mirror glass.  The only difference removal-wise between standard and heated mirrors is once the glass is out you'll need to unplug the wires from the back of the mirror (there's a picture of that in the walkthrough also).  I'd probably take Matt's suggestion and leave the mirrors in the housing since it will do a great job of holding the mirror stationary so you can work with both hands.  I remember from running the wiring into mine it would have been nice to have an extra set of hands to hold things still so I could work on them.  If you find it difficult to work that close to the side of the car you could either pop the mirror out, or remove the housing from the side of the car, whichever you prefer... honestly it's easier to take the whole thing off the car than it is to pop the glass off.  Or rather it's more difficult to get the glass back in than it is to reinstall the housing.

Any idea how long this GB will be going on?

Honestly, the mirror glass looks easy to remove.  I would really suggest removing it, making a template, cutting the film to fit, and then applying.

Any other thoughts?

It's easy to remove, it's just when putting it back in you feel like you're going to break the glass in half.  The problem with cutting a perfectly sized template vs. applying it and then trimming the edges (like it dabears current GB) is that you have to precisely center the lamin-x.  It's easier to just stick it on and trim the edges and smooth them out.

wow, that looks great! Great job bro! very clean :goodjob:

Was that for me?
