I have a 2006 Mazda 3 hatchback 2.3 grand touring model. I am having this problem with my blower fan. once in a while it wont turn on UNLESS i turn it to have the mode blow on my FEET ONLY, then it will blow in all modes with A/C on or off/ recirculate air or let outside air in.
I have tried everything from turning off the car and starting it back again... one time tho i drove off and about a mile later it turned on with the vent into car mode, i turned off the fan and turned it back on and it started.
So if my fan randomly doesnt want to blow. i found a way to start it by putting it to feet only.
Should i be worried that the blower motor is going out? or one of the relays or fuses is bad?
just installed a new cabin filter. and the "ticking" went away. im guessing a leaf or something was making that noise, and all is working well so far. ill update if it doesnt work on me again.
i dont think thats the problem. i think its gotta be a relay problem or something like that or the fan was just stuck? cuz it happens right away after i start the car the fan doesnt blow. it never "just stops working" while im driving. its always from the beginning when i start the car the first time
ok i have replaced my cabin air filter during winter here in SoCal. Now its officially summer and it has happened to me now at least 4 times today. i am thinking the blower motor resistor or relay or fuse could be bad?
i have the vent set to fresh air coming in and i leave the fan on, but no fan, sometimes it will turn on right away once i actually start driving the car, sometimes it takes 5+ minutes to turn on. i leave the fan on high to see when if it actually turns on and it has always turned on everytime. i havent gone a drive where the fan never turns on.
A/C compressor turns on for sure. light goes on and i can hear it kick in. just no fan... please help! 90+ degree weather with no A/C SUCKS!!!!
update. now even when it put the vents to feet only. it doesnt start anymore. i have tried moving the STARTER and HEATER relay to see if that was the cause, but that didnt work. checked the fuses and they are all good (replaced them since i had extras just in case). i am thinking the blower fan or resistor is bad
It could be blower fan being worn out or loose brushes. If it is a blower resistor you should have high speed only unless it has an open circuit from the switch or the switch itself. Check power and ground to the blower motor.
i have all the speeds. (i have auto climate so i just have a knob that just spins endlessly to control fan speed. i just noticed tonight when driving. it turned on right away, but i turned it off after driving about 5 mins to test it and it wouldnt turn on again for about 3-4 mins of driving. this is really irritating because its getting hot here in SoCal. i really hope its not the blower motor going out because that is going to be a pain in the ass to fix or pay the dealer to fix...
It just might be the motor actually, Troubleshoot from the cheapest fix on up. Large problems like the motor don't happen, typically, without a culmination of smaller ones first.
update: replaced the blower resistor (auto climiate control) and its been working perfectly fine for the past week. i also bought a new blower motor just incase, but i think i figured out the problem.
