60,000 mile maintenance

I currently have 63,000 miles on my 2004 mazda 3 HB and wondering what i should have checked as far as maintenance. Can anyone suggest what needs to be done at this step?

Thank you,
G

Can't really remember 30K. I used to take it to the dealership while it was under warranty. Would they do something as a routine check up? But besides so far , regular oil changes, brakes, and new tires.

For this type of service, do you suggest Mazda dealer or any auto shop? And what would be the estimate cost?

Re: 60,000 mile maintenance

i think that would depend on your choices (for an independent mechanic).

i would probably suggest a trusted mechanic if you have one (dealerships generally overcharge for everything).

i think most dealerships recommend much more maintenance than is strictly required to fulfill the warranty requirements...but i cannot really guess at what yours did.

Re: 60,000 mile maintenance

You're in luck my friend. After going to the service dept. at Mazda ALL the time just because I liked to, one of the service guys gave me a chart which shows EXACTLY what you should have done at each mileage interval. Here's the breakdown:

Things to replace:
1) Engine Oil
2) Oil Filter
3) Brake Fluid
4) Tranny Fluid (ATX or MT)
5) Air Filter Element
6) Coolant

Inspect, top off, rotate and lubricate everything else which is applicable. So basically, replacing all your fluids and you air filter which I don't think you'll need to do since 04 & 05 (with exception of SP2.3) didn't have an air filter. The estimated cost on the sheet shows:

Total cost of Service: $303.33
Labor time: 2.30
Total Parts: $71.33
Shop Supplies: $25.00
Grand Total: $324.56

I love this chart, lol.

engine air filter yes,

i think you're right though for cabin filter (not on 04's)

Lol, whoops, I always overlook that since I have a CAI, lol...which reminds me. I should probably clean the filter sometime soon. I know the 04's didn't have a cabin filter or anything at all but when the 05's came out (with exception to the SP edition which had an air filter) they still didn't have a cabin filter but they had a dissipation panel which does basically nothing.
